@schnabeltiertv4 жыл бұрын
That's just his first clue, though. The whole movies theme is the conflict between the cops obsession to save everyone and jigsaws idea that you cannot truly save anyone, they have to do it alone. The fat guy shows that many people don't deserve his help, girl in the hair trap is supposed to teach him that people won't be thankfull for his help. The couples trap had "save as I save" written on the wall, which should be a pretty obvious hint for a cop who knows the case well. They all teach him something, and the door is the final test, to see if he has understood the lesson, which he has not. At least that's the plan, it's still stupid and has some logical flaws here and there.

At least it introduced Strahm into the series. And other than he killed Jeff, the agent's a better protagonist than the others for several reasons as he's... kinda an amalgamation of them but uses them better. He has Eric's short temper but is more restrained as he didn't beat Jill's face in when he got pissed. He has Lawrence's brains (times 10 it seems) but uses them for justice and not playing off his paycheck. He develops Tapp's obsession with the case but doesn't let it get in the way of others. And he has Rigg's kindness as he tried to save Perez when she was hit with shrapnel and that was probably the catalyst for his obsession. And he's Jeff's total opposite and his killer.

The little girl that Rigg talks to is Alison Luther, the niece of director Darren Lynn Bousman. Producer Mark Burg has stated this "Saw" film to be his favorite on the commentary track. This is the first "Saw" film in which the protagonist is not locked or trapped at all, and is able to stop playing the game at any time. This film marks the second time in the "Saw" series that someone other than Jigsaw (in this case Hoffman) says "Game Over" in the film's climax. The first time was in "Saw II" (2005) when Amanda delivers the line Body Count: 10. (Including Cecil Adams, whose death is shown in a flashback. Plus John and Jill's child that was miscarried in a flashback. From "Saw IV" to "Saw 3D", Mark Hoffman is always involved in the last trap of each film. The knives that were used in the trap that Jigsaw forces on Cecil Adams were actually made of wood The seamless transitions between separate scenes in the film were not created using (digital) visual effects, but were done practically. For these transitions, the sets were build in such a way that two separate scenes could be filmed in one shot without interruption. The autopsy scene was passed completely uncut by the MPAA. A coroner was onset at all times for the autopsy scene. The autopsy scene was deliberately made gruesome to distance the film from similar scenes that take place on TV every week on shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (2000). This is the first installment of the franchise that does not open with a character in a trap. This is the first film in the "Saw" series not to be written by "Saw" co-creator, Leigh Whannell.

It always bothered me how Art's torture device attached to the back of his neck never went off as Rigg went through the door. It seemed like Hoffmans trap which would never go off. Makes me wonder if both are in on it. Even though he went through a test prior. Then again, he was given a folder with instructions after he won that first test, so it makes me wonder if he put that device on himself and it was a dummy trap that would never actually go off. Seemed the only trap in that room that was meant to work was Matthews.

Isn't it a bit hypocritical of Jigsaw to go off on one because his wife had a miscarriage, when in Saw III, one of his victims was a dude who just couldn't get over the death of his kid? Yeah, the dude was rotten to the surviving kid, but in the sliding scale of evil, frequently shouting at/neglecting a kid isn't quite up there with slaughtering dozens of people in torture devices. Like, would Jigsaw be happier if mourning dude had taken up murder instead of shouting at his kid? Is that the healthier way to process loss?

While there are many inconsistencies and things to pick apart in this film, the uncocked revolver scene may not be one of them. Now, I admit I am not a gun expert and that particular piece may need to be cocked before firing. However, I did own a Charter Arms .357 Bulldog and it could be fired by cocking the hammer or simply pulling the trigger a little harder if the hammer was not cocked. It was one of the selling points they made sure to point out to me before I purchased the revolver.

Darren Lynn Bousman did say that Amanda was supposed to kill Eric Matthews at the end of their fight in Saw 3, completing her transformation to that of a murderer. But, that scene was removed, leaving it more ambiguous. However because Saw IV brought him back, Eric is one of the most sympathetic characters in the whole series. He broke his foot, escaped his test, was tortured for months, and unfortunately died because Rigg was too early.
@raven800plays4 жыл бұрын
I sincerely hate the saw series.I remember a friend of mine gushing over these movies because she liked the underlining premise the villain was trying to get across which was learning to appreciate life on a whole nother level (keep in mind however that this same friend tried to commit suicide a few years ago and I was the only one she told this to and hated me for the next couple months afterwards when I informed everyone in her Facebook friends list that she needed help and someone came to stop her). after watching the entire series for myself though I can safely say that the message was lost in typical Hollywood greed. If the killer was trying to help people appreciate their lives after literally being on the brink of death or on the verge of losing something or someone close to them then that message died either in the second or third becauselater movies ended up having innocent people getting killed for no reason or no way to condone for their sins or offered any chance to learn to appreciate their lives that are just killed like lambs in a slaughterhouse. This whole passing the torch bullcrap just makes it worse.

Saw 4 then decided to jump from the highest peak onto a steep hill that caused severe injuries to the series. Those injuries didn't make Saw 4 completely bad but going from great to just good only means Saw can go from good to decent and ect.
