Nice review. One of the strengths of this movie is that the majority of the characters are actually 'likeable'. Most horror movies have a cast made up of handful of douchebags, which makes you root for the monster to kill em of fast so you wont have to listen to them spout their verbal diahrrea anymore. About the only character in tremors to provoke that reaction is Melvin.
@TheFunniBaconMan6 жыл бұрын
All the characters pale in comparison to Burt and Heather. That is one badass couple.

Burt Gummer is one of the very few times that movies have portrayed a "gun nut" character in a positive light.
@kissarococo24595 жыл бұрын
That's why Speilberg made the caharacters of Jaws likeable even if they were not perfect. The audience wants to root for guys they know.
@Tazkar5 жыл бұрын
Also they don't seem to realize that making the characters likeable actually makes a horror movie scarier. Because you start worrying about their safety rather than as you say rooting for the monster/bad guy to kill them because they're all assholes anyway. Will say even Melvin is more likeable than most horror movie casts. He's just a snot nosed kid at this point, irritating but not really doing to much to make you actively wish he would die.
@meuriellahall62015 жыл бұрын
I never thought about how most people in horror movies are bad people... in pumpkinhead the reason why there all being killed is the douchebags killed a child by acident and just left him there to die. i think the only one who desrves to live in pumpkinhead is the one who tried to keep the child alive.

I love this movie, I can never get enough of the original movie. Kevin Bacon steals the show, no matter what movie he's in. Hell, even the second one is alright. Everything beyond that point however, well I started losing interest when the ass blasters were introduced. On a side note, the college girl may not be a super model. But she isn't bad looking either.
@BigBWolf904 жыл бұрын
I'd have to say Michael Gross does a damn good job of being memorable as well as Fred Ward. They're characters shine right alongside Kevin's and have great dialog that makes them believable. Yeah you're right. Especially when you get to see the legs but also she's got a great personality that most likely beats out the supermodel Valentine was hoping for

I know I'm late, but that's not 'basically it'. One of the big twists of the series is that most of the characters react in a level-headed manner to what's going on, instead of playing hot potato with the idiot ball, turning on one another, trying to get in a quickie regardless of the threat not being gone, and all those other tried and tested monster movie tropes. This makes it almost a horror-comedy, particularly in Tremors 2.

12:44 I think a better idea would be that they go for whatever food is available, when it's available, even if they're not hungry. Lionfish will eat other fish until their stomachs are completely full and they have a fish or two hanging out of their mouths, for example. I'm pretty sure the one waiting them out knows they're there, and won't leave them alone unless something else comes by to capture its attention. Maybe that's why the guy stayed in the tower until he died of dehydration, who knows?

Me and my brother loved the first and second Tremors movies and thought of it more as a summer Horror then a Octoberish film.

At the end when Val say can you fly I always imagine the worm saying "wait this isn't the third movie"

this is one of those perfect movies,.. one of the biggest reasons is because they follow the law of show don't tell to the T. Pacing is perfection (hehe), setups have payoffs, people make reasonable decisions for the most part (the father was setup as an idiot already before he sat on that tire, so that's both lol) and knowing they had a good props and effects team, their main focus was to develop everything else around the threat and make it a believable world, sort of like how a good book reads. This movie is the equivalent of an amazing novel.
