Not all bad when the snow holds off, unless you ski or run snow machines. The back of the barn looks dryer than your last video! Love your positive outlook and the very end! Now you'll be looking for a bigger bucket for the Ingersoll!
@macfarms5 жыл бұрын
Haha yeah if I was a snowmobiler I’d be pretty upset lol need to get a high capacity high dump bucket for it lol be all set then.

Is the dustiness of the bedding not a issue for the cows?
@macfarms4 жыл бұрын
It’s not very “dusty” sawdust, it’s pretty course stuff so it doesn’t make much dust.

So do you like the saw dust . I can send you some snow. Thank you for the video update eh
@macfarms5 жыл бұрын
We like it, not as hard on gear as using sand. We’ve had a little snow here, not really enough to plow though lol.

It'll be interesting to see how far the NP mill closure resonates thru NS and how many industries it affects. They have said a lot of sawmills will close because of it.
@macfarms5 жыл бұрын
Yeah we’ll see what happens, but I mean they had 5 years to come up with a plan and couldn’t make it happen so I guess it’s on them. Hopefully we don’t have to buy our own sawmill lol
@paulmccallum42295 жыл бұрын
@@macfarms Obviously not off your own farm, but do you know of anyone who has tried corn fodder bales as bedding material? All of the new dairy barns we have built in Colchester county (Hills and Boekmas )have been set up to use sand as bedding.
@macfarms5 жыл бұрын
Paul Mccallum no I haven’t not down here anyway. I’ve heard of guys using sand too but that was never something we really wanted to get into. Sand is a lot harder on all the manure equipment than sawdust is. But I mean, if you can’t get sawdust that’s not much good either.
@daledenotter63985 жыл бұрын
wish i had that sawdust last me years
@macfarms5 жыл бұрын
This will probably last us a year. Can be hard to get it at all at times. Trucking costs us more than the sawdust does.
@JamesOBrien22535 жыл бұрын
Why do you use sawdust does it keep the cows cleaner
