This is the biggest log cut I've seen in the states, seen huge logs cut overseas.

I think another reason that the saw blades would be canted in this way would be so that they don't hit each other.

Nice setup you have there. Why the green lights?
@Helmsburgsawmill11 ай бұрын
I promise they just look that way in the video. In real life they don’t look green

You must be using fluorescent lights. Look for color balance in your camera and experiment with the settings. That should correct easily. Look for fluorescent light setting. @@Helmsburgsawmill

Love the videos. They could be longer. I didn't understand your explanation of why the blades didn't align. You started to mention the feed rate but didn't finish the thought.
@Helmsburgsawmill Жыл бұрын
Yes sorry! In general, your feed rate determines how hard the saw leans into the log. Especially if it’s sharp. When I go to fast, the bottom and top cuts don’t line up. The top saw does the inverse to the bottom saw. I just sharpened the saw, but honestly on these big logs, a saw with about 75% is preferred! The duller the saw, the less aggressively it goes in. That’s why as the saw gets dull I have to saw faster!! Otherwise it doesn’t lean into the log hard enough. When I can see edger marks left in the log after I’ve made my board, that means it’s time to file

It measured 48” on the little end before I cut it down a little. It was 11’ long. According to Doyle, that’s over 1300’. If you account what I cut off, I’d say that piece had around 1100’ in it. Tbh I only did it that way, just to say I could😂
