I wonder what you thought was missing in "A Good Storm." Some people didn't like some pop sounding arrangements. Although he wrote or co-wrote the songs, he says some weren't produced the way he wanted. That's why he wrote and produced the new LP (Hide Your Ghost) himself. Zenith J there’s just something missing. It wasn’t just the fact he did cover songs, it was the arrangements. The truth is, I didn’t like his original songs he wrote before the show either. And if you ask my family they’d tell you I was his biggest fan and told everyone after I heard his audition that he was the winner. I think it’s the lyrics to his original music I’m not crazy about. To me, and it’s just my opinion, his lyrics can be very vague. I think as he ages and experiences life he’ll improve. His voice to me, sounds much better with more mature lyrics.

Sometimes the lyrics are vague-more poetic and open to interpretation. But the newer songs "Half a Mind" and "Broken Home" tell complete stories. They will be on his next album, "Hide Your Ghost." And yes, I'm sure his songwriting will only get better, since he's still just 18.
