Nice to see Keely Hodgkinson come round to congratulate her, I presume it must have happened soon after she had won the 800m herself. And Mihambo also congratulating her on getting into the 7m club.

I like how Sawyers took a moment to make sure her country’s flag was displayed properly. 👍

At first I didn´t think it was 7 meters, but when I look at it again in slow motion I see that the marks in the sand was already there before she jumped. And I think Rotarus 2:nd jump was longer than 6.54, maybe 6.70. It's really hard to see when they put all those lines in the sand.

I had the same thought. I saw those smaller marks and thought she hit her hand there. I guess not.

Where is new generation? . Vuleta born 1990, jazmine and Malaga 1994. A lot of other 1996 athlets. I think Carl Lewis is right. Children's wont to play esasy sports. And parents for them. Even the world long jump champion Fiona May, mother of Larissa Iapichino, had adviced her to run becouse he thought jumping is too hard.

In what world is jumping harder than running?

@@Everton-Valley-2005 The pressures are different, but the combination of having to get the take off right, the extreme technicality involved in the event and the enormous stresses on the tendons and skeleton are at a different (and potentially life changing) level. Unlike the high jump and pole vault which now have a softer , safer landing option, the shock loading is unbelievably high.
