I am impressed with your fine craftsmanship. Watching this video reminds me of the paintless dent repair auto body technicians who must have adopted their skills from the instrument repair profession.

That was a beautiful job . If you love your sax and it needs repair , send it to Matt Stohrer for a pro job.

Hi Matt, thanks for these invaluable sessions watching your work! Many questions here, but among the simplest is- what thickness of Teflon sheet works to protect the instrument and the hammer face? I have several thicknesses, perhaps just experiment?

Hi Matt! I'm in the process of rebuilding an old holton tenor, which happens to have some really bent key cups. Would it be possible for you to make a video on leveling keycups or reference me to something? Any help would be appreciated. Your videos have been beyond helpful as I've been diving into rebuilding saxophones on my own.

I too would be interested to see what Matt says on this, and I think he may have covered this already. The thing about keycups is they're not flat on the inside anyway, and I do think it would be a good idea for them to be fabricated flat to make the prep for pad fitting easier. A bench anvil (a small flat metal block) is useful. There are threads on pad fitting and key bending on the saxontheweb forum in the 'sax repair, maintenance and modification' section.

I enjoy watching these videos you put up. Fantastic end result! I have some experience using the dent machine on the brass winds, and I don't see how you'd be able to use it in this situation.

Depends which you have. Do you have a "Tensioned" roller above a ball?

This reminds me of what they call 'paintless dent removal' for cars.

Yep, looks as if some over enthusiastic repairer tapped dents "outward and made new ones .
