Hello Jeremy, You are an exceptionally gifted teacher. I played alto from 5th through senior in high school, just a semester of bari in college-not enough , what a blast!! -once the pads were seated properly in a shop. I walked away from sax, and have focused on Baroque recorders (a very easy transition from sax) and piano and some other things, and was content to be done with the saxophone. But it was an old friend I had abandoned, and it was finally time to reconnect. Your videos have encouraged and inspired me, and have enabled this step. Thank you.

Wow - thank you so much for those kind words, and your support Daniel 🙏 I’m so glad to hear you’re reconnecting with the sax! I also started in grade 5 so I’m sure we had very similar experiences in school. I’ve never tried a baroque recorder but I’m keen to check one out!

@@SaxTuition Hi Jeremy, the sonatas for alto recorder by Handel are exceptionally beautiful! There probably needs to be a recording of them played on the saxophone. Anyway, Encouraged by your great videos, I purchased a nice soprano saxophone this summer after many years on the alto. I’m having a blast playing it! One surprise is that it takes less volume of air through the instrument, so I find that I can play long passages, but on the other hand in longer pieces breath is never completely exhaled, and if there’s not a rest at all, then I can’t ever exhale completely to enable taking a complete fresh breath and I’m dying to breathe in and out after a piece to recover. Is this a challenge with the soprano versus the larger saxophones?

The reed tip is SPOT on, I was using a chipped reed for a while before I changed it and when I switched to a brand-new reed, the sound quality improved so much that it shocked me! And I think I’m guilty of pushing my bottom lip too far over my teeth, I will try a more natural position tonight! Thanks Mr. Trezona!
