If you have Spotify look up Say Anything and go to the album "All My Friends Are Enemies: Early Rarities" then go down to the song "Where The Hurt Is" skip to 9:45 and enjoy. You're welcome.

This song is so beautifully taunting. The roughness of the timing just adds to that undertone of pain and makes it perfect. I love Max.

This song speaks so much in so little of time... The first time I heard this song, I was shaking with tears. It was every passing thought in my head. It didn't make the feelings go away, it gave them a reason, myself a reason to live. Even listening to this song now, I'm struck to my soul. This song is beyond words.

I hate it when people hate on songs cause its not auto-tuned.This is music this is beautiful! Its like Bright Eyes people hate on them cause they say his voice it "horrible." Well Bright Eyes and Say Anything are the best band cause they do it for the MUSIC not for the money or fame.

It's a shame that I got into Say Anything when I did... by the time I was able to start going to concerts, they stopped touring. At this point, I doubt I can ever see them live. At least we have these KZbin archives. Thank you for preserving the early rarities that aren't on Early Rarities!

turtlesinabox I have to agree. Max's earlier work is so powerful because he wrote and recorded these songs while he was still very much feeling the specific emotions that he expresses in them. I don't believe they'd be as impactful if he re-recorded any of them.

Holy shitballs! It's been years since I've listened to this song, and yet I didn't realize what it was until it started. This was one of the first Say Anything songs I've heard, and my brother put this on my first iPod. We've since been huge followers of Say Anything and Max Bemis' stuff, but this is the only song of his that I've went this long without hearing.

Ya, just because someone is really loud and excessive doesn't make their voice "bad". He is painting a picture and you can do that in a normal volume.

A good song isn't a good song since a good voice, what makes a good song is the feeling it shares and how you relate to the words. A good song is meaningful, not perfect.

To be honest, It kind of makes me happy that they aren't super popular, because if they were they'd have to play tasteless music to keep up their rep. They wouldn't be playing just for the sake of the music.

Not to mention for some reason it's a fad for so many teens/20's to have insomnia/depression/etc. I'm just saying maybe Say Anything fans are attracted to the same thoughts, or maybe we're all taking unnecessary medication for something we all need to buck up on and deal with. Everyone gets depression, anxiety, panic at times in some form. But how many of us get legit persistence of it. My mom yes, me? Hopefully not me. I'd like to think not.
