I just love this depiction of Beetlejuice. The more traditional one comes across less like a demon and more like a ghost, looking corpse-y as he does. This one is way more reminiscent of an actual DEMON, who makes deals and tricks people into giving him power over them. And when you spell out his name the right way, Betelgeuse, like the star and mythologically etymologized name it sounds more like an old demon with a "b" name, liike Belial, Beelzebub, Baal or Baphomet.

In the movie it’s hinted that those that kill themselves become public servants, helping the dead through the afterlife. Beetlejuice used to be one of those peoples… intern? Helper? So it’s possible that he killed himself (the green tint on him and how gross he looks make people theorize that he drowned) and he really didn’t want Lydia to have to become a civil servant. After all, he actually knows the true value of life (why he wants to be alive).

I must say--I'm a retired film editor and frustrated animator (I can barely draw a stick figure) but I did, at least, do sound editing on one cartoon, the Mickey Mouse featurette THE PRINCE AND THE PAUPER--but I've looked at several of these animatics on this song, and yours is the most creative and TRULY using the animated art form to enhance and propel the story. You use great poses, and WONDERFUL transitions and gags that really add enormously to the song and the whole spirit of the scene. You should really be hired by somebody!!! I hope and pray Disney and others will return to 2D hand-drawn animation and God, you're good!!

I've seen way too many animatics where the characters barely move, or where the motions are just casual things that don't add much to the song. And that's why the movements here blew me away -- they've got character, vigor, and life to them, and they express the characters' emotions perfectly, and match to the beat of the song. Everything from casual gestures to the way the characters interact with each other just works. This is really impressive.

I mean, ones that don’t move as much as this can still be insanely good, it just depends on what is making the song, in a song where there aren’t many backgrounds and the characters expressions need to shine, something like this is amazing, but in one where it’s switching places and putting more emphasis on what is going on rather than what the characters are doing, less animated is ideal or it would be too confusing. Just my opinion at least, this is really good but it doesn’t have to be this animated to be good

It's the sketch before the line art, basically. This is by far the best animation I've seen for this song so far, not just because of how smooth animation looks, but because of small things like having Beetlejuice excessively shape-shift (unlike many other versions) and great expressions on people's faces. My particularly favorite part is the little skull in Lydia's eyes when she says "What do I need you for?" Wonderfully done.

Truly a great animator does this....somehow they can depict, in pencil, what a character is thinking or feeling. Doing the subtle stuff is SO hard. Doing scenes like this--even Disney himself was happy with 2 or 3 feet of film a week (as opposed to the industry standard of 20-25 feet of animation a week) if it was really great character animation. (For example, you can see Pluto really THINK when he's stuck in flypaper, for example.) I'm truly blown away by this animatic!
