Can't believe it, it's coming back Can you feel it? Though it's gone so fast I can hear it: Lecha dodi kikrat kallah Candles burning with flames so bright We will gather in shul tonight As we daven: P'nei Shabbat nekabalah So say Shabbat Shalom! (x7) Can you feel the love? Menucha v'simcha, metuka... Can you feel the love? Menucha v'simcha, metuka... Say Shabbat Shalom! It's a blessing we're grateful for. We can share it l'dor v'dor As we sing: Lecha dodi kikrat kallah So say Shabbat Shalom! (x7) Can you feel the love? Menucha v'simcha, metuka... Can you feel the love? Menucha v'simcha... Shalom aleichem, malachei ha'sharet Malachei elyon, hamalachim Ha'Kodesh Baruch Hu. Bo'achem l'shalom, malachei ha'shalom Malachei elyon, hamalachim Ha'Kodesh Baruch Hu. Barchuni l'shalom, malachei ha'shalom Malachei elyon, hamalachim Ha'Kodesh Baruch Hu. Tzeit'chem l'shalom, malachei ha'shalom Malachei elyon, hamalachim Ha'Kodesh Baruch Hu. So say Shabbat Shalom! (x7) Can you feel the love? Menucha v'simcha, metuka... Can you feel the love? Menucha v'simcha, metuka... Can you feel the love? Notes: Lecha dodi kikrat kallah, P'nei Shabbat nekabalah -- This is the opening line of a 16th century hymn written by the mystic Rabbi Shalom Halevi Alkabetz. in which he imagines the Sabbath as a bride. It is a very popular hymn, sung around the world in synagogues to open the Sabbath services. The quoted words mean "Come my beloved to greet the bride, let us welcome the presence of the Sabbath". Shul -- synagogue (in Yiddish) Daven -- pray (in Yiddish) Shabbat Shalom -- The traditional Sabbath greeting, "Sabbath peace!". Menucha v'simcha, metuka... -- An allusion to another 16th century hymn, this one with an anonymous author. Very popular for the Sabbath, the quoted words are from the chorus and mean "rest and happiness, sweetness". L'dor v'dor -- "From generation to generation", or "to all generations". A phrase found in several psalms, as well as in one of the central prayers of the Sabbath liturgy: "From generation to generation we will declare your greatness, and for all eternity we will proclaim your holiness".

Menucha V'simcha, means contentment and happiness of the Sabbath day SHALOM ALEICHEM ~ Peace Upon You ~ “Shalom Aleichem Malachei Hashalom” is a Jewish hymn recited on Friday night before the Sabbath (Shabbat) meal. Based on a Jewish poem. Translation: Shalom upon you, O ministering angels, Angels of the Exalted One. From the King who reigns over kings, the Holy One, Blessed is He. May your coming be for shalom, O angels of shalom, Angels of the Exalted One. From the King Who reigns over kings, the Holy One, Blessed is He. Bless me for shalom, O angels of shalom, Angels of the Exalted One. From the King Who reigns over kings, the Holy One, Blessed is He. May your departure be to shalom, O angels of shalom, Angels of the Exalted One. From the King who reigns over kings, the Holy One, Blessed is He. Transliteration: (from Hebrew) Shalom Aleichem Mal’achei hasharet mal’achei elyon. Mimelech mal’achei ham’lachim Hakadosh baruch Hu. Bo’achem leshalom Mal’achei hasharet mal’achei elyon. Mimelech mal’achei ham’lachim Hakadosh baruch Hu. Bar’chuni leshalom Mal’achei hasharet mal’achei elyon. Mimelech mal’achei ham’lachim Hakadosh baruch Hu. Tzetchem leshalom Mal’achei hasharet mal’achei elyon.
