Sean you guys have taught me so much. I'm 65 and I'm trying to learn how to level my own frets. Thank you thank you
@wasteddude93878 ай бұрын
Hey Sean. You’ve been wondering for a long time. Here’s your answer. The guitar body can go through multiple CNC machines for different manufacturing stages. For instance, at Schecter, the neck pocket gets cut before the last stage. The last stage is when the outer perimeter of the body is routed. As you know, that rounded edge is done with a large router. But there’s a problem because the edges of the neck pocket can end up sharp and thin. Not a good place for a large router. UNLESS, a temporary small form-fitting block of wood is inserted in the neck pocket before that large router goes by. BUT something has to hold that little wood block in place. That’s why that extra hole is under the neck plate.

I thought that hole was to hang it up for painting. At least that's what I saw them doing on another channel.

The neck fingerboard could be hybrid of pulverized wood and some hard plastic mixed together kind like engineered wood like they sell at home center stores for outdoor boards for decking. If someone is intrigued they take little piece and send to laboratory for analysis. They’ll tell you what is made of but, not cheap.

When split to single coil it sounds really good. I have a $100 Silvertone SlK1 I bought brand new in 2005. After setting it up and polishing the frets it's been a great guitar. Unless you're a professional player I can't justify spending more than $500-$600 for a guitar. I'd rather put money into an amp and a few pedals.

Hopefully we can convince him. Lots of people will buy his music, and it’ll help the channel a great deal! (Cathy will help him see the light if it means using hard objects, lol. 😂) P.S. There’s a service called DistroKid that’ll help musicians copyright their songs, distribute to all streaming platforms/socials, make it available for sale, copyright the music, etc. Lots of guitar KZbinrs use the it and seem happy with it. You get to keep all revenue and the fee to use the service is pretty fair from what it seems. Could be crappy too, but sounds pretty good on the surface!

Nice job on the neck, Sean. I bought a cheap neck off eBay because I wanted a 4X2 headstock. The fretboard is made of what looks like the same material that your guitar's fretboard is made of. They advertise it as HPL which has something to do with "high pressure lumber". Kinda like Masonite. It is probably the material of the future. Gibson used it on some guitars. I'm gonna say the neck I got with that stuff is really a good base. It's very stable and has a 2 way truss rod. They screwed up the fret job though. I will be refretting it next.

Enjoyed your song. That was you on vocals, right? It's raining as I type this, and the song was perfect for the present mood. I like the fact that decent guitars are made overseas for a decent price (even though that guitar wasn't one of them). I will say this though: I'm sure you would have charged more than $99 for your time. You're obviously a skilled wood worker and luthier. You have all the right tools, and skilled labor like yours does not come cheap. For a kid or even an adult who only has the money to pay for the guitar, the tools would be more than most can afford, and even if they farmed out the labor to someone like yourself, that's going to cost them. To be fair to the watchers, and yes, I watch your channel, you might put a reasonable number of hours you spent as well as cost of anything you use and a reasonable expectation of pay for those hours. Include that in the cost of getting these guitars 'right' so that some of these poor Reddit posers (and I see their posts by the hundreds) can put a more realistic price tag on getting these guitars to where they're more playable. It's unfortunate to read every day these posts from people every day fighting tooth and nail with a guitar that they hoped would be great, but reality slaps them in the face when they can't 'sound like' their idols when they plug in a guitar that looks exactly like the one they say on KZbin, Instagram, TickTock and the like. Of course, most of that is lack of skill alongside a crappy 'modeling' amp that has a few meager tones; but they break a string and after their first string change, they're getting buzzing frets; higher action (don't know how those go hand in hand, but they seem to), and choked out notes. The expectation needs to be reasonable, and as I'm sure you're aware; it takes some patience and elbow grease along with some knowledge and skill to get these guitars playable beyond the honeymoon period. Just a suggestion. Keep up the great work.

I d want a Cathybucker in a Tom Delonge pickguard with a 500K pot and a toggle split instead of the treble bleed pot. I wish they would offer a hot Almico 5 bucker in the shielded Delonge pickguard with the Single Bridge and a regular 500K pot and a toggle split. . 1 Cathybucker and the single 500K pot at the bridge like the Delonge pickguard and a toggle to split it to two singles. But definitely not ceramic or Almico 2 s . What would you recommend? Should I do it that way. I got the Silvertone for $5 and I set it up and the neck and bridge turned out great. I just need to get rid of those pigfarty ceramic single coils. I have room in the rout for 2, but that old Silver Fender HM with the 7.25 fretboard and the single killer bridge Humbucker with the toggle coil split had me writing some ghost stories songs. I did some studio work with it when they needed a haunting sound. I miss that thing. I know it can be re created. I wish I could throw you $ 100-150 mail money order and have you wire me a drop in.
