I think you hit the nail on the head with the safety at the parks. As a solo visiting Canadian, I feel as safe as I di at home in them. I cannot believe the boat played the son TOO! haha it must of been a total eye roll. Hope the feels wore off and you get some rest.

Absolutely. So few places have that security for solo travelers, especially late at night. It’s great! And yes, I’m recovering well from all the feels!

Your comments about safety really resonated. It's why if I'm solo travelling I'll choose orlando and staying onsite at universal. I know it inside out, and knowing I fancy a night time jaunt around citywalk that I can and pretty much be assured of being safe. Aventura has definitely risen up my hotel ranks. Stayed for hhn this year and in February and it feels so chilled out and calm. Love that you have SF just over the way and can walk to the parks still too.

@DiscoLiz we've just changed over to aventura for our trip in Feb next year. We were meant to be staying at Sapphire but we needed to re-look at the budget so aventura was a no brainer - can't wait to be back there again!!

That’s the best way - easy to enjoy Sapphire’s amenities without paying Sapphire prices!

@DiscoLiz hahaha 100% maybe again in the future when the economy and job market is a bit more stable (I miss my king suite) but for now, a walk across the road and settling down into strongwater for drinks and nibbles or amatista for breakfast will definitely hit the spot!

I've got a trip planned for January and have Dockside booked but so tempted to switch over to Aventura, I'm just not convinced it'll be worth the price difference since I'm on a budget. Thoughts? I will warn that I've never stayed at Dockside or Surfside before but have at Aventura (and loved it!). Decisions, decisions!

How much of a price difference are we talking here? I much prefer Aventura to the other two, but I do understand sometimes you get a deal you can’t refuse!

​@@DiscoLizSo it's $438 for Dockside vs. $615 for Aventura for 3 nights total. I know it's not a huge difference, but I just am not sure how different the two hotels are.

I've stayed at dockside a few times and do like it but depending in how tight your budget is for me the difference is worth it. Being able to walk to the parks and VB is literally 2 minutes away, plus you can get the boat as sapphire falls is so close and also if you choose to having pool hopping privileges (plus hot tub!) - all such awesome points for me that woukd make me switch. But dockside I really enjoyed staying at in June and as a budget option is one of the best out there I feel.

I'm very happy about it too... love the boat ride from next door, love the views, and never got a chance to hang out on the rooftop bar so maybe I can this time! Something to look forward to! Thanks for your advice and encouragement. ❤
