Same, I saw the title and said "Please let this not be what it sounds like!" But it is. These people are strangers to me, but my heart still breaks for their loss, because I can't imagine losing any of my children. Not now that they're half-grown, and not when they were contentedly bumping around in my belly. Unborn babies are human, and they are loved, and it's tragic when any of them die.

I'm so sorry Matt. I love that you say "she was real". She was!! We lost our first baby a couple of years ago, and all people said was "it wasn't real yet", but to us she was real. Beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing. My wife and I struggled to get pregnant but we finally did 21 years ago and had a wonderful baby daughter. Several years later we unexpectedly got pregnant and lost th baby,. We decded to try again and lost that baby as well to an ectopic pregnancy. Blighted ovum, they called it. After that we adopted a 13 year old boy to be our son. He had many problems that we ultimately could not solve and at this moment he's in jail waiting on trial for several felony charges. We love him, but we could not help him. 3 years ago he had a baby with his girlfriend at the time. Neither of them coulld take care of the baby so we took him and he's been with us ever since. He's a wonderful boy, and even though I never anticipated being a new father at 50, he's been a gift. I say this to tell you that sometimes things are vrey hard and you don't know how you can get through, but sometimes wonderful things come of it. Stay strong, both of you.

I am very sorry. I’ve seen such pain and loss in my own family but also much joy. My brother has spent a lot of my life in jail. Thankfully he’s been out for about ten years and most of the harm he did was to his own life. Lots of lost time. But he’s been out and it’s not been perfect but mostly it’s been good so I’m thankful. Many nephews and nieces and now great nieces and newphews and I worry about each one but also love them. Being an uncle to so many is strange for sure. Worry but also blessings. I’m glad for your boy and love for him. My own mother has raised many a niece and nephew. Currently has two living with her that are adults and one with two boys for her own. I love those two toddler babies so much🙏🏼💕💕💕

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost my sweet baby boy when I was 9 months pregnant. What you said @2:05 made me cry. For almost everyone around me, this baby just "never arrived". But I already had him.. and then lost him. I was asleep during my C-section and by the time I was awake I was told that he was given to a priest who buried him in a cemetery far away from our house. This was heartbreaking. They did what they thought was best for me but took away my right to mourn my way. I have no footprint, no picture, nothing but the memories of the 9 months we spent together. It’s true that time heals but they existed, they were here, and will forever have a special place in our hearts 💙💗

Hi Matt, I'm very sorry for your loss, Daisy is a beautiful name. I had my first daughter, Ava, 3 months ago, and she came stillborn after 40 weeks, you are not alone also, the grieving process as a couple can be hard, at any given moment I can be fine and my partner not and vice versa. Participating in support groups have been helpful for us, to see that this can happen to other people and that there is live after the grieving period. She existed and a father wants to talk about his daughter, even if she's passed, so use her name and talk about her, this topic is such taboo but she was here and forever changed your life, you'll learn about pain, loss and compassion. Take care of each other and remember that your wife like mine, is going through puerperium without a baby so patience is key. Also take care of yourself too, society many times puts the father in a role to be the rock and to have to endure it all, but we feel it too, so let yourself go through it, they tell me time helps, but we can't speed up that, so hang in there. I'm very sorry for your loss, sending you, Nat and Daisy all my love from Brazil.

Matt and Nat, my condolences for losing Daisy. I have followed you for years and never commented, but I want you to know that you too are not alone. Grief and loss aren't easy. You don't just lose someone, but also something that could have been: a future that you imagined. Please take all the time you need to process this. Make room to remember Daisy in your lives, in your home, and in your mind. Continue to pay tribute to her, write letters for her, and embrace all the love you felt for her. It will be difficult to go through it all, but again, you are not alone in this. Thank you for making this video for us so that we remember to appreciate how life can be beautiful, fleeting, and cruel at the same time. It takes tremendous strength and vulnerability to put something like this out there, but you have made it into a beautiful tribute. Thank you for posting this, Matt. It is very clear that you and your wife's love for Daisy is beautifully represented here. ❤ If I could offer you a hug, I would. 🫂 Please take whatever time (and help) you, your wife, and son need to grieve. Within my own experience, grief is not a linear path; but one that goes in different directions, with different strengths, on different days. It doesn't really go away, but it's waves' impact will slowly lower over time. Talking about her (with those around you, or support groups online) has provided some small amount of relief for myself. A good therapist who specializes in grief can also be helpful to open up with. I'm not sure how religious you are, but you and your family will be in my prayers. 🙏 Much love to you all.

I can't imagine the pain. To lose my daughter (or son) would be unbearable. Prayers.

Daisy will always be your daughter, and you her father. She was and the memory of her is very real. The letter that you wrote was absolutely beautiful, and a simple but amazing memorial to her. My wife and I lost our son, Declan, at birth back in 2014. To this day we count him amongst his siblings as one of our kids. The missing him does not go away, but the pain does subside eventually, as unlikely as that may feel right now for you. You will find ways that work best for you, but taking opportunities, even little ones, to include Declan’s memory have always helped us - like using his name, and signing it on Christmas cards with the other kids’ names, etc. You are in our thoughts, and we thank you for sharing your daughter, Daisy’s name with us!

Man, thank you so much for sharing this. It's devastating but it's also so important to tell and share stories like this. You're right, you're not alone but so few of us are able to talk about infant loss, especially during pregnancy. It's still felt just as hard for so many people. I am lucky enough to have had two children born naturally and healthily but the reality of what you have been through was never far away and even some of our very good friends weren't able to talk about similar things that happened to them. So once again, thank you for sharing, I hope that many people see this and get a lot from it. That letter will be cherished by Daisy wherever she is right now and I hope you will be able to read it in the future (or see this as it sounds as though you left it with her) and remember the time you had with her with fondness. All the best to you both.

Awe Matt this is heartbreaking 😢 💔. My deepest condolences to you and Nat. No parent should ever have to go through this. Your letter was very touching. I think the idea for writing those letters and having a resource for you to express your grief will be so important. Wishing you both all the best and love ❤️.

So sorry for your loss. Your words to your daughter were beyond beautiful. Wishing you and your wife strength at this moment. My wife and I lost our son not long ago, you sharing this helped me just now and will help so many others I’m sure.

I’m so sorry for you both Matt, there’s no heartbreak quite like losing a baby. In one way they never made it into the world but in another way they made such an impact on our lives. ❤
