Garrett, you NEVER have to apologize for loving a pet as a member of your family. A loss of a pet rips out hearts just like the loss of a sibling, aunt/uncle, or any other family member. And, don't apologize for ANYTHING - not sharing his passing sooner, your filming location, etc. Albert was loved by us as well, and anyone that can't understand the depth of your loss has never experienced such a devastating loss. Every time I saw Albert, I marvelled at his courage and resilience. He had a real presence. Albert was his own man. I’d like to tell you the pain will lessen, but it really doesn’t. You will see him everywhere, stroke his silky coat, and feel his weight in your arms for the rest of your life. You can take comfort in the knowledge that you were the very best parents Albert could have had, and gave him the best years of his life. I have lost three pets in less than two years, most recently my beloved Balinese, Murray, my soulmate, of renal lymphoma, on September 25. So, I am weeping with and for you. Here in Germany we say, that an animal goes over the rainbow bridge, and on the other side they will wait for their beloved. So, I wish you a good journey, sweet Albert. Oh my goodness…..I’m so very sorry Garrett. Losing a beloved fur baby is the worst pain ever. We lost our four year old Bichon in May to a terrible brain inflammation disease. What struck me first about your channel, besides great design advice, was the way you include, hold, and love your dogs. I am so sorry for your loss. I loved Albert. He was one of the special ones. I don't think people can understand how much elderly and disabled dogs add to our lives. People go out of their way for a healthy puppy so they can limit the complications of disabled and elderly dogs. I adopted a rescue with three paws. I knew she was a tripawd when I rescued her. What I didn't know is that she is also an epileptic. I am so glad that our city pound didn't know she had this problem, they would have destroyed her before she became a part our family. Disabled dogs require so much more investment and care, but they give back more than we give them. They teach us to accept the bad times, to live in the moment, how to accept help from others. How to love even when we are not at our best. Part of the emptiness when losing a loved one that required a lot of care is that the time you would have spent caring for them is spent missing them instead. You seem to love all of the time and attention Albert required from you. Some of us are just givers and carers. Don't spend too much time grieving. Go out and get another dog that is going to be passed up because they are not a shiny new puppy healthy puppy. There are so many Alberts out there, dogs that are "unadoptable"

You gave Albert love and time to enjoy his life that he would have never had without your rescue. He may have suffered before being a part of your life but the love and joy he brought is incredible. I adopted an unwanted senior dog, too. Then she developed cancer twice. My son and I tried to give her the best life we could. The waves of sorrow eventually do grow farther apart. It has been years, and I still think of her every day. 💔 The pain is the price of loving a dog because we outlive them. I'm grateful that we were able to care for her, and I'm grateful you were able to care for Albert. 😘
