Saying Goodbye

I have some bad news. Miss Mina had to be euthanized yesterday at 17 years of age. I thought I'd have her in my life much longer but it wasn't meant to be. I don't believe in an afterlife, but I'm grateful that her pain has ended. My heart is broken and I see no way past the grief right now, but I know a time will come when the pain is more livable. I know I will miss her every day of my life.

Thank you so much, Mary. I know you've faced your share of grief yourself. This certainly blindsided me. I'm not sure how I'll ever learn to live with it, but I'm sure I will. It'll just take a very long time. Mina was the dearest friend I've ever had. She will be missed for every second of every day.

I see you, I hear you, and I feel your pain. Our beautiful 1 year old angel had to go to sleep too, three weeks ago, due to a late diagnosis of FIP. He left a brother behind and his two cat-parents in utter shock and heartbreak. I still cry almost everyday. There are no words of consolation in the face of loss and death. It will never be the same. They will never be replaceable. But amidst the hurt, try to find comfort in the memories left behind. Our babies will never truly be gone as long as we remember them. To us their lifetimes might be short, but to them… we were their whole lives. Rest In Peace, Miss Mina.

Sorry to hear.. I had to put my cat of 18 yrs down last December due to kidney disease. I miss him so much. You gave Mina a great long life. Take all the time you need. We'll still be here.

My 2 babies Heckle and Jeckle 2 brothers after 17 and 18 years. I acquired as babies died one year apart. Jeckle had cancer and Heckle with diabetes. I had them put to sleep to end their suffering which as you now know is painfully hard but the right thing to do. Just be glad you were a part of her life as you were her's. Bless you for being a loving and caring cat dad!
