@catladyfromky41426 ай бұрын
"That dress is hideous!" is an opinion. A strong one, but just that. It is not passive aggressive anything. Neither is it back talking anyone. It is a conversation where the MIL doesn't want the bride to know that she hates it so much. She could say it in front of the bride, and you would say that she was disrespecting the bride because it is not her dress. Basically, you think that everyone needs to love exactly what the bride loves and not have any opinion, either to the bride or not to the bride. Everyone needs to be in lock step, and their reason for being there is NOT to help the bride pick a dress but to say whatever she says. Got it.

I don’t know why everyone is taking it so negatively. Her fiancé and his mom seem really supportive. It is great to have a good relationship with your mother in law. They both seemed supportive of her and it was a nice gesture that she is paying for her dress too. She spoke up and they listened so what is with all the negativity? Some are saying to take your mom but sadly as we saw on the episode with Samantha how bad that was. At times, mother in laws can treat you better than your own mother. Plus, there is nothing wrong with your fiancé seeing you in your dress before the wedding. It is just a dress and sadly too many are placing too much importance on a one time dress.

The way the MIL got her first glimpse of the first dress, then turned and whispered, “See? I told you!” to her son, and then turned back with a fake smile - that rubbed me the wrong way. You two should not be having secret side convos and exchanging snyde opinions about the dresses. If you have an opinion, save it for when you are asked, and say it kindly and considerately. And when he said, “That’s the one,” he immediately looked to his mom for validation, not his fiancée. They recovered nicely though.

I always say dress shopping is experience for the bride with who she spent good times with maybe Mom, Nan, Bestie, Sisters. I get this. But, the moment MIL FIANCE IS THERE. It is not being superstision etc. Its the time you get to spend few hours alone.

Every situation is different. She said she was the last of her friend group to get married. It gets hard when you get left behind like that. I was in that situation too. And maybe she doesn't have a mom or sisters. I was very very close to my father-in-law because my father had died. I went dress shopping with my fiance because he was my best friend. We had a blast and I still love looking at the fun pictures. We've been married 11 years now and no regrets about any part of the wedding or marriage.

Get out now unless you want to submit all the time. Between the mother and fiance.😮 He's already married to his mother.

If it is just a dress then not a big deal, but yes it would be disastrous if it was like that all the time or for way more important decisions.

How can this behavior be just for the dress? A mommy's boy like that has been a mommy's boy since forever
