Out of the (hundreds) of SYTTD episodes I've seen, this was hands down the most heartbreaking one. Forget squabbling bridesmaids and explosive fiancés, this is truly the saddest episode ever. It's clear mom is hurting, and the MIL is not only not respecting the relationship between mom and bride, but acting like a childish junior high kid excited that she's replaced the "best friend." Mom really tried to rein her emotions in when her daughter kept asking her what was wrong, so I find it totally rude, unacceptable, and unfair for Flo to tell Monte & Lori that mom "ruined her moment" - no she didn't - she only broke down once they were pulled aside privately. If the parents have only "recently" separated and dad already has a new wife, I imagine that MIL has been around longer than when they got separated, and is possibly the one he left the mom for. A truly tragic moment for mom, not made easier by her immature daughter who has a total lack of understanding & empathy for what mom's going through.

The mil and the daughter were horrible . I think the girl only invited her Mom to make her miserable. If the mil is like that now, the bride end up paying for it later. You can tell that the bride is a Daddy’s Girl that is mad at her mother for leaving him. You actively involved the MIL and actively left your mother out. This actually happened to me. A long story; my daughter lived in San Diego, us here in Northern Cal. She visited and we went dress shopping to look for bridesmaids dresses. There wasn't an appointment to look at dresses. We ended up going to 2 places; the latter was closing for a 3-day holiday. Bridesmaids were able to select their dresses at the first shop. She went back to SoCal only to find a dress with her mother-in-law. When I asked her about it she said, "we were just walking by the bridal shop and went in." I knew she she knew by now she needed an appointment when shopping for a bridal dress. I saw this video and shared it with her with comments of how I felt. She's been married 10+ years now...

The most compassion from the comments I'm reading are sympathetic towards the Mom... definitely left me feeling sad with this episode.
@GameChanger5973 жыл бұрын
With the way the MIL was behaving, you could tell the daughter has been speaking poorly of her own mother to her and that's probably why the MIL is so cocky and firmly on the daughter's side. If you notice, MIL said "I'm here for when she doesn't have any other place to go." So obviously the daughter has been speaking to her about not having anywhere to go because her parents aren't involved which is probably a half-truth. Her parents just went through a separation and are probably emotionally distraught and don't have a lot of time to focus on her but they still love her and it seems she's acting like they don't. She's probably very spoiled. Most only children are.

That Monster-in-law is just waiting in the wings to take over this poor bride's entire life before the ink even dries on the license.

My heart breaks for the way the bride’s mother was treated. That was wrong.

Every time she said that she wants her mom to be there for the dress and wants her to love the dress it made me so angry because the mom obviously isn't there for the dress, she's there for her daughter!

I feel the bride made her mother to come for the dress shopping just to hurt the mother...why wanna invite someone that you resent??and she gets upset because her mother is upset...I feel the bride got major unresolved issues
@castapellathewizard91183 жыл бұрын
I think she invited her because even though they aren't talking or anything, she still want her mother to experience the moment where her child gets married. No parent especially mothers would wanna miss their daughters wow moment
@shrgh18763 жыл бұрын
Agree also seems like she's rushing into marriage to get away from her broken home.. and getting close to MIL to hurt her mom for leaving.. seems more like a child than a bride

"My mom left me feeling guilty..." okay, you should feel guilty. You don't ever, under any circumstances disrespect your parents, especially in front of your soon to be in-laws. Mother-in-law is eating it up so she can use it as ammunition later on. As soon as something happens and the bride is left to defend herself, the MIL will say to her son "see, that's what I was trying to tell you and you know how she treats her own mother...." And Flo: she's a snake for stirring up drama when mama was trying to keep peace. Mom didn't ruin the moment the bride, dad, mil, and shady consultant did. That was extremely uncalled for seeing how tense and uncomfortable the situation already was.

I know right! My heart absolutely broke for the mother. She was so sweet and kind and she didn't even care about her own opinion, she cared about her daughter! She just wanted to be in her daughter's life. They always realize this when the person they've been pushing out of their lives, doesn't exist anymore....

Agreed except for one thing.. it’s fine to disrespect your parents if they’re also assholes, let’s be honest.. they don’t automatically get respect just because they are family

The mother in law and daughter are being deliberately evil and spiteful. It will come back on her one day. Wish we could see that footage on there. The daughter is just being hateful. Very sad episode

A perfect example of framing people and blaming them. Wtf is the daughter and the consultant think they are doing poking mom going through a divorce and lost the moment which was to be with her daughter. She tried to keep a straight face even if she was badly hurt. This girl made feel nauseated seriously one heck of manipulative and selfish personality.

Mom, don't cry, ship her off with her new family, go enjoy life now...She's just 19...I would go crazy if my daughter would tell me she wants to get married so young...but she's an adult, let her go.

It's sad how she left her mother out. Your mother in law can never replace your mom. She is a priority!

Do not use a wedding to do microagressions to get back at a parent. Do not use it to do microagressions against exs or step parents or whatever. In doing so, you are undermining the principles of a wedding. That stepmother does not even respond to the mother when she asks if she had picked it. That is a subtle way of sidelining her and excluding her. Joshula asking about Mom's feeings is not sincere. The daughter is angry at her mother leaving, so should not have invited all of this group. It is just a mess. They are not communicating and need counselling: Mom and daughter.

The way she treats the mother.. like honey wipe the milk off your lip, you ain't grown yet.

This one was heartbreaking. It seems like Mom is being punished because she no longer wants to be with Dad. MIL seems like she purposely trying to replace the bio mom.
