In this case and in many other cases you are surely right. But not all relationships with a big age gap mean that the older one is controlling. Sometimes people don't look for a much younger/older partner but happen to fall in love with someone who is 10+ years younger or older. If the person is the one you love I don't think that an age gap should prevent you from going for it.
