All the consultants saying it doesn't work like that... Meanwhile, for every one of my siblings' weddings we were just told a color and went out and found our own gowns. No drama, pictures looked great and the marriages worked out-- which is the most important part.

My daughters was the same . They were Scarlett red and looked beautiful. A couple of girls had the same style but it was all seamless!

The difference is she let them pick out whatever color and style, if she would’ve picked a color, that would’ve been fine, but she didn’t and so the dresses would’ve looked all over the place

This episode is at least 10 - 15 years old when bridesmaids would traditionally get the same style and color. Now a days, brides are open to them having different styles and even different colors!

How long do alterations take in the US? These seem rather minor alterations, in India, I have had alterations done right before the day of an event. The tailors here are probably a lot more accommodating since it's an unorganized industry.

​@@pu7273 I don't know the answer to your question. I have no idea how big their alterations department is, or if there is one dedicated to brides and another to attendants. It was a relatively large wedding party and I was quite surprised that they hadn't come in to try the dresses on earlier.

The second part, the wedding, was fabulous. The color and style of the bridesmaids and maid of honor, the bride's gown, the whole church, the flower girls- what a wonderful, classy ceremony. Loved it; best wishes to them!

Thank goodness for sites like Azazie where each bridesmaid can actually get a different style dress that’s still cohesive. As long as the length, color, and fabric are the same, it’s really not a big deal.

@D2J8 That’s EXACTLY what my daughter is doing-this way each gal can wear a style that’s flattering to her own figure! Same fabric, length and color. Of course, she has only 3 bridesmaids so it’s not as complicated as this group!

My cousin just gave us a color swatch and told us to go with it! We got to pick our own dress of that color and it worked great! Coincidentally I almost bought the same dress as her Maid's of Honor/ her sisters. But when I sent a pic of my dress to her, she asked me to pick something else and they still almost completely matched as it was same fabric and color but not the same length or style. The wedding party looked awesome!

Making your maid/matron of honor stand out can be tricky. All of my bridesmaids were in the same red dress with a very dainty belt (like a cup-chain almost), except my maid of honnor was in a slightly darker shade with a thicker belt and different hair piece. It was just enough to make her really pop.

You can. My friend had us wear same color and same material but each of us picked a dress we were comfortable with. Different style, same color and material

Bride was definitely rude to her mom and the consultant. You do want a minimal structure to your vision. Color, Fabric, Sillhoutte. Choose at least one of those to be consistent across the board. Especially with so many bridesmaids

I wonder if these couples are still married? I find it sad that they sound all sweet and lovely on their wedding day and then some just divorce shortly afterwards. It feels like the fancier and expensive the wedding is, the shorter the marriage.

The first Bride that was there to pick out gowns for her bridesmaids, yes and Mother I believe. I didn’t understand none of that. The second bride that had the bridesmaids girls dresses had to be taken in and maybe had to be helmed. She picked out some beautiful gowns. I thought that was a gorgeous wedding. Good job. 🥰🐾

I don’t understand all of the consultants saying that it doesn’t work like that, when it totally can. I was a bridesmaid in my friend’s wedding and we were all able to choose our own dresses, as long as it was purple. We all wore different lengths, shades, and styles, and it turned out so beautifully! It made me want to do something similar for my own wedding, so it definitely can work like that lol

The consultant says it doesn't work to get different dresses. Well. I took each of my 5 bridesmaids individually shopping and gave them a store and a color (David's Bridal and Malibu), and they picked whatever from that. 2 girls chose the same dress, but based on body types they fit differently and looked as if they weren't the same dress but a similar style. They all coordinated and looked amazing. It can be done. If bringing all your maids at once, madness. One at a time.

And recently I stood up in a wedding (she was actually one of my maids), and she gave us the same instructions. A color and a website (paprika and azazie). All 7 of us had different dresses and they all looked very good and coordinated together.

RE the bridesmaid dresses-what a hot mess. Maybe I'm too old fashioned, but there needs to be some sort of unifying factor (other than color) among the bridesmaid dresses, or it distracts from the bride too much. On another note: there's no easy way to say this, but not all dresses are designed for all women. What may look great on a taller, slender bridesmaid could be a disaster on a shorter girl with a heavy bust. I cringe for today's bride trying to put all this together. I've had 2 weddings (thank God 2 was the magic number) and had no attendants at either one. Sometimes there's something to be said for keeping it simple.

Wow, great work finding five different styles of dresses. But, sorry, no mother should be the maid/matron of honor. That is a huge red flag that the relationship is closer than it should be and will pose problems in the future. Have done pre-marriage counseling for 40 years, for every time someone might say it wasn't a problem, I can guarantee that there are 50 where where it was... and if I pull that one aside, her husband will tell me it was.. And when the mom steps in and says she's going to have her OWN style of dress is just an indication of that very thing.
