Welcome to our KZbin channel, solely dedicated to words.
Say Your Word is a digital platform by the acclaimed novelist, storyteller and women’s rights activist Elif Shafak.
A platform for words and anyone who cares about them.
Language is the key to understanding and unlocking our world.
It is also the key to the human heart.
Words are often said to have power.
What is not said that often is that they can hurt and even spread hatred and hostility, just like they can heal and bring about love, empathy and wisdom.
They can divide, distance and "dehumanise", just like they can connect and “rehumanise" those who have been dehumanised.
East and West, North and South, regardless of race, sex, gender, colour, religion, ethnicity, nationality or any other category, we are all made of stories.
Stories bring us together, untold stories keep us apart.
Today's word is ORLANDO.
Subscribe to Elif Shafak's new KZbin channel to discover the beauty, complexity and magic of words.

I only found Woolf and Orlando recently. It was the book I requested as a gift from my cousin, as I was and am very much in those other and in between spaces of existing. It also shook me. I have read twice and have read 3 others by Virginia now, and have to say she speaks to me in a very special way. This is not just a book for people in those lonely questioning spaces, it can be enlightening in many ways 90 years later for so many, and yes Virginia Woolf and Orlando live on, Thank you for this post! ✌️🌈!

Fakat ben karakterle ilk filmini izledigimde tanistim.

Tilda Swinton's performance in the movie is incredible, magnificent, shocking. What a wonderful thing that Virginia Woolf has left us such a story. #virginawoolf #tildaswinton #orlando

I love the way Woolf put Vita Sackville-West (Orlando) and her lover Violet Trefusis (Princess Sasha) as characters in this; in reality a tragic story of two people who were really born a hundred years to early. The references to Princess Sasha's parentage are the same as the real-life conjecture about Violet's father; possibly Edward the 7th, as Violet's mother was the royal mistress. The book, Portrait of a Marriage, based on Vita's own writing of their affair gives a good background to their love.

I've heard what u have to say.... But I question your claim of "feminist essay/literature". How? For me... From what I've heard I think and I feel this book is actually the transit of time, era, class and gender The book yeah has this hint of broken conventionality like you've claim yeah...and we could see how the world and categorization of a man influence Orlando's style of writing and conformity to society standard as to when he was a woman. From a woman point we could see the existence of those women in the court I think the dark constaiene who could do and undo... That's game shakers of society in the world. So I think it's move like a transit for me
