I see the boat turning into a paper airplane as the proverbial flying out of the nest and spreading your wings to live your own life. Reverting back to the paper boat is like no matter what you become like your parents due to the life lessons you learned from them. Then whatever you learned, you teach them to the next generation, this is like the cycle of our lives. Well, at least that's my two cents on the MV.

The composer/leader of the group, Pablo, is fond of using wordplay in his lyrics. MAPA is a combined abbreviation of mama and papa. But in the song it also takes another meaning, MAPA is the tagalog word for map. Our parents are like maps who are there to guide us or to show us the way as we grow up.

MAPA has some of the best lyricism in any song. Mapa means "map" like a travel guide, and it also sounds like Ma/Pa (Mom/Dad), to compare how your parents guide you to navigate the world. It's also a portmanteau of the first syllables of Mata (eyes), and Paa (feet), and you see it in the lyrics they say Mama, you are my eyes in this changing world. Papa, you prepared me to stand on my own.

What I think you meant is that the cycle repeats but on the reverse version. Parents takes care of kids when they are young and when the kids are grown up and parents are old, the kids say it’s their turn to take care of their parents.

Thank you for your RV to our dear SB19❤. This MAPA lyric video was the first song as well that led me to SB19. And it was timely then, they went on concert tour in the US, so we got to see them perform live in the SF leg of their tour. This song is now like a sweet warm hug of my parents now long gone. The sense of gratitude imparted by this song resonates to many, regardless what level of relationship one has to their own parents..or people who act as parents or mentors. It will be good to see the live version of this song. There is one on Wish USA bus, then the latest one is at the First Take Channel. There is also a collab with Ben&Ben band, that is another performance worth watching. There is also an MV for this song, part of an ice cream brand project. SB19 ably adds extra flair to their live performances that continues to keep their songs timeless. Pablo who composes most of their songs is such a talented lyricist, master of double entendre and conveys deep messages in their songs. Hope you continue on exploring their music catalog, make a playlist for them, so it would be easier to suggest other songs from them.
