the gains on this NA SBF foxbody mustang were a lot more than i expected before getting started!
The holley EFI line up makes life easy converting to EFI. even though they claim they are "self tuning", IMO that more so means it can start up and get its self relatively close, but they always leave a lot on the table as far as power goes.
here is a generic link to a super sniper similar to what was used in this car. be sure to verify its for your specific application before purchasing.

searched through most of your videos to find subject on holly sniper, so i gave my comment here, I seem to be having EMI and RF issues with my sniper on a 302 ford, I will be honest and say I didnt hook up power and ground directly to the battery like they say in manual BUT my battery is in the trunk and making it very difficult now I have to run power and ground wires to rear of vehicle, I am told by EMI system PRO that sniper was designed on a chevy where distributor is in the rear further away from ECU in throttle body where ford distributor is in front and is right next to the ECU that can cause EMI RF issues, I dont think the ECU should be right next to the distributor or even in the throttle body in fact., really dumb, its like putting your PC in a lightning storm!! I am not happy with the sniper system thus far.

About to throw a sniper on a 92 HO 5.0 and some shorties curious if I will have any power gains mainly in bottom end
@Texas_Road_Warrior
@Texas_Road_Warrior 3 жыл бұрын
Shorty headers are for top end power, the runner length dictates the resonance frequency… longer the runners the lower the rpm peak power happens and the opposite is true for short runners… this applies to the intake and exhaust

If u zoom in on the heads they are victor jrs, doubt it’s a 302. Those heads are too big for a 302. Probably a 331 or 347

Might be a dumb question. But it’s a question. Do you set timing under the hood with the distributor too? And set timing on the computer? What do you normally set a distributor to timing wise??
@JoeSimpsonAtTempest
@JoeSimpsonAtTempest 2 жыл бұрын
You make the distributor match what the ecu timing is. So you lock the timing in the computer at a fixed value, doesn’t matter what it is, say 15 degrees. Then move the distributor to where it shows the same 15 degrees with a timing light. It’s called syncing the timing.

Joe, and subscribers: can you help me? I’ve installed a Holley Sniper EFI on a 1991 Fox Body with a 363 stroker with an MSD ignition system (distributer, coil and 6AL-2). There seems to be EMI coming from the distributer and affecting the Sniper CPU, because, if we place some sort of metal plate between them, then the engine runs, but if we remove the plate then the engine cuts off. Holley seems to believe this is common with the SBF 302. My engine builder says no way, he’s never heard of that. Lots of documented problems with this in the Foxbody and Holley Forums suggesting wiring “cross talk” and grounding possibilities. We’re lost. What do you think??? Thank you!!!

Make sure you have a good ground running from the engine to the chassis. Make sure wires aren't crossing over each other.

@@onthencway9241 I'll check it all again. The team who installed the engine, transmission, cooling system, ignition system, etc., checked all that several times and insured me that that's not the problem. Lots of issues in the forums with the only way to prevent/fix the EMI problem is with a shield. So, it's apparently the design of the Sniper with the CPU located in the front of the unit can't handle the power of the aftermarket ignitions systems in such close proximity. Thank you, and I'll post anything else I find...

@@jeffreynowotarski8775 what kind of distributor are you running? If you are running a distributor with a hall effect sensor, then I would think that no matter what you would have to run a shield or some kind of hat on the distributor cap to hold in the signal of that sensor from affecting other electronics around it. Because it would be the same effect of holding a magnet to a computer without a shield between them.

@@onthencway9241 Good info - thank you. I have the following MSD Ignition System Parts: www.holley.com/products/ignition/distributors/pro_billet_distributors/parts/8582 www.holley.com/products/ignition/ignition_coils/street/performance_street/parts/8227 www.holley.com/products/ignition/ignition_boxes/street_and_strip/parts/6421 Ford Racing Spark Plug Wires, which are supposed to be spiral core (but have not yet verified) MSD rep said these components should be working just fine together as an ignition system. The shield seems to work. I'm gonna let it be for a bit while I troubleshoot it idling a bit rough. I think I have an IAC issue. This is after I replace the power steering reservoir. So, it runs, just a bit rough. The shield is practically not noticeable at all. I think I could (and may have to) live with it. Thanks for your help - I really appreciate it!!!
