Systemax II ports are fairly large compared to stock or mild upgrade heads. I'd bet the original owner was trying to correct the mismatch between this Systemax and heads with smaller ports, i.e., remove the "wall" obstruction in the flow path created where the smaller head ports met the larger manifold ports. Better solution would have been to blend the head ports to match the manifold.
@bigdogsportingtonyb2833Ай бұрын
@@steveamnmn yes that's probably true but also would have been a waste of time because a mild mismatch in port to port alignment doesn't effect flow or hp like people are lead to believe which is why gasket matching only doesn't gain any hp on a running motor. Air doesn't move through a port like people think. Think about it, the Systemax 2s ports are larger as far as volume wise but flows less bolted together than our stage 2 Gt40 family manifolds. Why, because air doesn't flow through the manifold like you think. There are a lot of dead spots and eddy's in the Systemax 2 ports and areas wear the minimum CSA gets reduced significantly which then reduces the ports flow. Thanks

More than likely that's JB Weld or Quicksteel...SMH! I mean that can work, but prep is key. I've used Moroso A+B epoxy. When you prep your metal right it works great. Ok back to the video..... Edit: race car only....street car go 💥!
@bigdogsportingtonyb2833Ай бұрын
@@arturozarate1752 yes it was JB Weld Steel Stic but the issue with that stuff in an application like this is longevity. In a Race only frequent tear down situation I can understand but it's still risky. Long term it won't last. As the different thermal expansion rates creates separation it will lose its grip and work lose on top of the fact it did nothing but hurt cfm which is why it got sent to us to be ported correctly. The customer wanted to make more power

@@jplperformance9073 we see stuff like this all tge time. People listen to shade tree guys tell them things on groups and forums or watch videos were they see someone showing this is how you do this and they think it's OK or innovation. These are the types of things that can ruin a motor.
