If Woolie was presented with a button and was told that if that button was pushed, the whole world and society as we know it will be nuked and be replaced with a world where mecha duels reign supreme, you know Woolie would push the button ten times the moment they said "mecha".

Post fight update: on one hand it was staged but on the other hand, your timeline has been enhaced with robot pro wrestling now. I want Woolie's dumbass kayfabe necromancer robot to be the Kane.

I'm sure the chainsaw was supposed to go farther into the arm of the Suidobashi mech but somebody heard this podcast and was worried that the mech-fight revenge-story Woolieverse might have become real. That chainsaw might have gone too far and a child in Japan might have clenched his fist. Suidobashi is not ready to make a mech GOOD ENOUGH FOR A PILOT OF *SUCH INCREDIBLE SKILL* WHILE BEING FUNDED ONLY BY *TWITCH BITS.* ....Then the father-avenger-kid-mech has a biblethump on its shotgun/pile-bunker fist. It's an advance mecha with extremely fine motor movement but it does that same raise, turn, and running punch from the first round of our current battle to the avenging battle in the future. Except instead of knocking down the Megabots mech, the fist clicks, the pile-bunker cocks and in a single moment and with a single shell, the Megabots mech is removed from reality. It is knocked down straight to robot hell.

The only cool parts of that fight? The American mech spinning the lighting rig like a dual light saber to block the Japanese paintballs. Second? The American chainsaw designed to cut through rocks cutting into the Japanese mechs armor while the Japanese dude is just sitting in the cockpit contemplating how he's going to be doing hara-kiri.

That was one of the funniest dumbfuckeries I have ever heard. When I listened to that bit about the backstory and twitch while sitting in the train, I tried so hard not to lose my shit in front of like 30 people (girls were watching too).

I wish the Kuratas fired metal BB guns instead of those tiny paintballs. It was cool to see it splat on the beam as Mk lll deflected it, but I wanna see sparks. Plus, the bot won't get destroyed. ':/

As someone who actually hated and didn't want this robot fight to happen(because all I thought when I saw Megabots challenging Suidobashi was "Why are they challenging what's considered an art piece statue that moves? To stroke their egos?"), I thought it was alright. And I'm saying this as a huge robot aficionado. EDIT: You know what? I take that back. If that 2nd and 3rd fight was staged, then blegh.

Next time they host a mecha competition... I expect them to be capable of at least STRAFING. Or WALKING. Also, bring some REAL Newtypes and MechWarriors instead of people fiddling in one place and not making the most of their mobility and tactical options.

I would love to live in a world with Mecha Combat, but i know that it'll never happen or only be in small events because Mecha are so expensive and impractical.
@Dirtyboots3strikes7 жыл бұрын
The same can be said of the early 1900s when the thought of a flying aircraft was laughably stupid. And look where we are now. Jet fighters and UAVs in the sky. Who's to say this might never happen just because of "Oh, it'll be impractical"? I keep hearing this damn phrase being thrown around like a mantra for something that might not be possible in this century, but might become a reality in the future. Who knows?

yep. iron glory didn't even bother to dodge or retreat to get more time to shoot. guns just suddenly not working. It was a goddamn disaster. the poor suidobashi robot got rekt in a scripted fight and the guy knew, he KNEW the only moment he would get his wins is the megaton punch (BIONIC ARM) and that drone (that still scripted since how the hell did eagle prime manage to hit that drone?)

Question about the robot duel. What if the battle was all keyfabe, BUT it was scripted really poorly and cringey, and they accepted crowdfunding to upgrade the robots under the implication that the competition would be legitimate? I'm genuinely torn about it, on one hand I love the stupid cringe, and the fight was fun in a dumb spectacle kind of way, but on the other hand they literally spent the last 2 years building it up as a real duel and it ended up being a slow, cringy, clearly fake battle that wasn't even staged well for the most part. I mean I think everyone knew the fight wouldn't live up to the hype, robotics just isn't at a level were it would be anything but two hunks of metal awkwardly hugging, but part of me would have preferred a REAL shitty robot fight to a fake one, because now the entire draw of America putting it's engineering skills up against Japan is meaningless and the result doesn't matter. Like if they're staging the fight couldn't they have made it cooler then? Also again the fact that they had a kickstarter that raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to upgrade America's robot just for them to completely script the fight seems kinda scummy. Like the robot's capabilities don't actually matter because the fight isn't real, so what did these people actually pay for?
