He tries. Musky fishing just isn’t easy. I’ve been starting to get into muskies and sometimes you can go fishing 10 days in a row and not catch a fish, but if you do, you can find big fish.

I have found fishing comes down to edges, edges of sunrise sunset, moonrise moonset, edges of weather, thermocline, current and of structures, baitfish, and so on, the more edges you can stack the bigger the attack. We all know time on the water is a blessing God always gives us sunrise and sunset.

Hmmm, just finished this vid. Not sure why I didn't watch all the way through originally - oh well, glad I did. Nothin' wrong with Stonewall Jackson Lake -- good fishin' all around. Getting close to my home right there (currently in eastern panhandle WV). Actually, my son was born right there @ SWJ Hospital. Home being Sutton. Sutton Lake -- divers have said they'd not go back into those waters due to the size of fish they'd seen, supposedly big enough to swallow a man. Elk River has produced many muskie of larger sizes above 50".

The buchannon river right from stonewall jackson lake has a 13 mile section of catch and release for monster musky. Its a nice little float trip.

hooked into a muskie here in Ohio--was with husband and his brother in a john boat--saw a swirl along the bank and tossed a black rubber worm with white spots-wow instant hit--it was soo big it was pulling the boat while my husband was screaming="GET IT UP HERE"!!!! as he had a gaff hook----withing a few min. of the boat going up river the line snapped--not my fault just this thing was huge...good memory.

Should have came on up to Woodrums lake in WV you could have had the lake to yourself and it's full of fish. In the spring there is a ton of muskie fisherman but in the fall almost no one fishes it. My son has caught a few on bass jigs also. Those were some nice fish you guys raised. That lake stays packed up.

I literally live 5 minutes from the lake and I would of told you every time to go to grafton lake and or river. An hour or so drive from stonewall. Ever in the area again please choose one of the two. If the river start at the dam and go down to the first bridge and back. I caught two in the river off bucktails but had plenty of follows with other baits. Water levels may keep you from going further down. Good luck next time.

Next time your near Weston WV hit up stonecoal lake it’s one of the few lakes close that rarely gets dirty and mcflys store at the road entrance has the best lures and some trophy Muskie caught from that lake
