Good Sunday morning AG. this was kool to watch as I am semi building a SBR. As I'm doing my homework on it, I noticed you put the adjustable gas block on after placing the floating hand rail. How was it that you where that sure that the gas ejection port would line up with the gas block port? I'm just changing the 16" barrel for a 10.5" with an Seeker Adjustable Gas Block. One question that comes up is buffer and buffer spring. Do I have to change the spring and buffer or just the buffer? Most suggest going to a heavy buffer i.e. H2 or H3. Any suggestions? Thanks for the video and breakdown of parts used.

Sorry for the slow reply...I forgot I had a KZbin channel. The only reason I put the gas block on AFTER the hand guard is the Knights Armament hand guard requires it. It is the ONLY hand guard ever made to require this, so whatever hand guard you're using, you'll put in the barrel, the barrel nut, then the gas block, then the hand guard. That being said, it's easy to line a gas block up with the gas port. The port on the gas block is almost triple the size of the gas port on your barrel. You have a lot of wiggle room. That being said, line it up by sight and call it a day. Do not worry about the buffer spring. Get an H3 buffer for sure. IF you want to get a different spring to limit the "sproing" noise, get a Geiselle super 42 braided spring or a JP flat wire, but it's not necessary by any means. Happy building.

Im interested in building an sbr ive built a rifle, with the sbr can i build just a pistol with no brace and leave the buffer tube assembly and then later after the form is approved slap on any shoulder style stock?

Yessir. Obviously you should double check your state laws and regulations, but federally yes.

It's dumb how each time you do this, you need to notify the ATF, pay $200, and wait 10+ months for them to process the paperwork and give you permission.

BUY GOOD TOOLS. Buy Magpul Wrench, it's worth it. Get a vice and plastic vice jaws.

Minus the shorter barrel , are the rest of the parts the same size? Meaning like the upper and lower receiver.

Adriane Clinton thanks man. I guess it’s been about 5 years. Having the right tools and a good work bench with a vice is the key. I bet I have 6-700 dollars worth of AR15 specific tools. Lol
