I believe the cost of the pen with the Bock nib is roughly $80 CAD total, not an additional $80. That is, the Bock nib option costs about another $12.

That is correct- on UK Amazon it is £40 with an Asvine nib, and £49 with a Bock one.

It bothers me a little bit that they did quite a good job of being heavily inspired by the Conid Regular while still putting their own stamp on it, but they also mindlessly copied the O-rings on that pen without really understanding how the O-ring posting mechanism is supposed to work. Asvine made the mistake of putting the O-rings in separate grooves, which causes both of them to be able to roll around between the cap and knob when you post the cap. Conid put both of them in one groove right next to each other for good reason: when you slide the cap across them, one of the O-rings will start to roll into the other O-ring, which makes them lock up against each other and the cap will just slide over the locked rings.

If only this excellent pen had a section I could hold. It moves continuously.

I love mine with Asvine nibs own 2.

I agree that the standard Asvine works very well. The piston seals the barrel nicely as I found out a few times when I drained the reserve or small tank without opening the seal. Nice weight, nice balance. Price is reasonable. What is not to like?

Thanks for another great review. I fine tune my own nibs and with minimal work the Bock F nib writes amazinly. My preference is minimal nib feedback and it writes very close, but not quite, to a Pilot Custom 823. Also, nice feed out of the box. This pen system overall would be worthy to upgrade to a 14K nib IMO.

Thanks for the review! I have this pen and it is really nice made and writes beautifully. The only thing i would like to mention is that the threads of the turning knob should be made of metal (they are plastic), and after extend use there is some wearing off, because of the metal threads of the body...! In all is a great pen though.

Great review. I love mine (Asvine nib). I can't really stand external o rings, like on the ensso xs or the Ohto Tasche, but if i lose the rings off the V200, since they aren't vital, I'll not replace them, and just paint the grooves if i want to maintain the look.

I found a shop that sells them with the Lemon long knife nibs - have you tried those SBRE?

I bought this when they first came out with their own Asvine nib in medium. It was by far the heftiest pen I ever got but within a week I was totally used to it. It checks all the boxes for me, love the styling, love how it writes, love the huge ink capacity. Only complaint of course is those o-rings on the rear knob which do come off easily when posting, so never post this pen. Its a huge pen anyway so no need to post. Big value for money with this pen especially since you get the tool as well.

It’s odd that the Bock nib cost so much for you in Canada. On the US Amazon, the pen is $48 with the Asvine nib and just $10 more with the Bock nib. The Asvine nib comes in EF, F, M and the Bock in EF, F, M and B. I am undecided as to which nib to get. I have had good experiences with Asvine nibs but have never had a Bock nib. I want a smooth, wettish nib with a bit of flex/bounce if possible and most of all, effortless, comfortable writing for pages and pages. I’d appreciate any input on which of these two nibs might be better.

I suspect using a very minimal amount of the same silicone grease used on the internals, if massaged sparingly into the back end O-rings, might stop that o-ring adhering to the cap. Probably if the pen is used enough the residual oil off hands and fingers could also work to reduce adhesion.

Thank you for a great review… will get one. Can you, or someone else, say more on how to fill up the full pen? One of the main features of this pen is the large ink capacity, but it’s a pity if you can fill only half of it… Thank you!!!

Got a brass P30 some time ago (because I really like brass). Nothing to complain here. Unless the design of is 'inspired' by some other pen of course.

I bought one. The I rings came off. It’s very nice pen but not practical. The ink flow is not consistent even when the top is open. I’m the ink flow varies a lot with the type of ink. In general I would prefer this pen with a piston filler than pressure filler as the latter proved very impractical.

The price difference between the Asvine nib and Bock nib is only an extra $11CAD. The Asvine nibs are great though. Not sure why I would want to spend that $11 extra when the Asvine nib is so smooth.

Hi Stephen, Thank you for another meaningful fountain pen review. Have you experienced the Asvine P36? It employs TC4 Titanium and no doubt this same titanium alloy for the V200. Assuming that both pens are fitted with either the Bock 6mm or Asvine 6mm nib and feeder, then the differences are the Vac-fill system vs the inbuilt piston system, and, the rounded vs. flat ends. Let's put price and o-ring issues aside. Now, which would you recommend to your friends, and why? This might be another way of asking...which pen would be more likely to have problems? I assume that a piston rod is more likely to become problematic than is the inbuilt piston...? Your input/advice would be appreciated as there are some folks trying to decide between the 2 models. Your Subscribers and plethora of fans appreciate you!

I find my Asvine medium writes like a Western medium, almost exactly the same width as my Pelikan Twist medium, and wider than my Sailor Tuzu medium.

Would be good to see a comparison of this, or a "shootout" video comparing to the Asvine P36 given the similar materials and price point. Both almost feel like the poor man's bulkfillers. So perhaps a 3 way shootout where the bulkfiller will obviously win 😂

I can't even remove O rings on my pen on purpose.😂 but I have other issues: the piston knob is very sticky and sometimes when I try to unscrew the cap, I unscrew the section.

touch of silicon grease on the cap threads then give the threads a light wipe? Same for piston knob maybe.

I returned mine for a refund. The Asvine F nib wrote like a mediun, was hard starting, and with a bit of babys bottom.

It's an outstanding pen; writes well, feels weighty and excellent quality. Luckily, Asvine sells a packet of 10 o-rings; in three colors; for $6.99 US. I don't post this cap, and still managed to loose an o-ring.

I find the TWSBI fine nib to be too pencil like, the asvine fine nib on the v200 is wonderfully smooth.

While there won’t be any shade from me on the Chinese pens for price, the quality is not there. Even at a price point of $20 for a 149 knockoff, they are quite bad. Our passion for fountain pens is based on quality. Every single one of these asvine and other mass produced pens are a league below Bic ballpoint. These pens are not even good for beginners. It would be great if everyone in the pen world stopped recommending terrible pens for our newbies. A Lamy Safari is a great newbs recommendation.
