Jaselyn G Yes because people were blaming that Taeyeon and Tiffany didn't support Ayeon well but selfishly boasted their vocals instead of giving more parts to Ayeon. However, people don't know how much They cared Ayeon. Tiffany designed and directed the whole stage and outfits to make the rookie girl shine. Ayeon is the beginning and the end of performance with the longest main singing part. She is the one stays in the center with white outfit while TaeTif are supporting vocals in black on the sides. The only thing they did wrong is that TaeTif did their best at singing, which out-shined Ayeon to the point people feel like TaeTif sang the most of the parts.

idk why people are pointing out the obvious like that as if there was something wrong with ayeon. she literally was never a trainee, wasn't a trainee yet, didn't do stage or dance training like taeyeon and tiffany did. taeyeon and tiffany had years of training under a huge company, had years of debut to their belt as well as stage and especially concert experience. plus they're idol singers whereas ayeon has always been a ballad/indie singer and has always sang with her piano accompaniment. everyone has a start and absolutely nobody is stellar in the beginning.

A yeon is a good singer but her shyness can be felt through her lack of stage presence, something that is key in the music world and helps make performances more riveting. Even if she got the high notes and runs, the lack of stage presence would not have been any different.

Way to make excuses... Ah Yeon is inexperienced so no shit sherlock she's going to have less stage presence than her seniors. But she's the one in the competition and they're supposed to be helping her so giving her the runs and stuff would have made her more memorable regardless. If you see the other performances you'll know what I mean. The YG and JYP artists made the contestants the highlight of the song.

You're gonna half ass the high notes and the performance so Ah Yeon can take the spotlight? This is Ah Yeon's special stage, so of course they're going to give it their all for her, while people like you see that as selfishness. Like the person you replied said, Ah Yeon hit her high notes part greatly, but she lacks stage presence. Even if Ah Yeon gets some of Taeyeon's high notes, with her level of stage presence that time, it'll still be the same. I watched the practice video and thought that they helped her so much like to tell them if she's not feeling confident or if she's uncomfortable on stage (mind you there might be more things that they helped her with that didn't caught on film). She agreed to do the song anyway, and I think this song is focused on vocals more than the choreo. If they chose another song with more choreo, she's going to be more overshadowed. She's almost always in the center during this performance anyway.

Are you seriously saying there were extras to the practice video and insinuating things that neither you nor anyone else except for the people that were there knew? So you haven't looked at the Miss A video then clearly? That was four people and just Hayi but she definitely stood out. And no Hayi does not have stage presence. Just look at her Mama performance! Infact...the only other video where the contestant is overshadowed again is that Shinee one. Surprise surprise they belong to SM! It would NOT have been the same if Ah Yeon had the high notes. She would have stood out for her SINGING even if her stage presence wasn't up to par. How is just putting her in the center making her stand out? If theres someone in the middle of the stage just singing back vocals and the person next to them is doing runs and high notes then my attention is definitely on the person to the side. Duh. Plus we wouldn't have to hear Tiffany do that terrible strain trying to hit Christina's high note (but why should I even bother pointing this out- you, being the deluded fan you are, will just call me a hater/jealous etc, etc, for giving an honest technical critique)

Tbh, the reason Taeyeon and Fany stood out more is they were putting more soul into their singing giving them more of the spotlight while Ayeon barely showed much soul into her singing as well as being pretty stiff so even though she had an upper hand in standing out more because of her dress, more screen time, and solo time; no one focused on her as much because of her lack of charisma and expression. So, sure Ayeon is a good singer but she lacks the necessary emotion to sing as strong as TaeNy.

+Juliana Gonzalez I'm not hating I'm just stating what's true, she could have at least shown more power with her voice during her parts, because taking different risks as well as showing off is usually what showbiz is all about. Since this was a singing competition, she would have performed a few times before, so she would have already had a bit of a feel of the stage. So who knows? It may have been the sexual concept of the song that may have thrown her off a bit, but I bet since this performance was a long while back she's probably really improved with her presence on stage.

Juliana Gonzalez They aren't selfish. It's more of a habit/a constant thing they do that when they're performing on stage, they always give their best. It's a natural thing for them to stand out more evsn though they have fewer lines because they're the two vocalists of a national girlgroup. They're a whole lot more experienced than Ayeon, and anyone would get overshadowed. They have that stage presence, and I agree that they put more soul into singing unlike Ayeon. Although, Ayeon is really good in singing, but as a performer you should show that you are THE performer regardless of who is/are singing with you.

I dont understand why people are mad about how tiffany and taeyeon "stole" the spotlight from ayeon. I understand that this was her performance and they out-shined her but that is her problem. Finding a person with a good voice is easy, finding a star that can command the stage is hard. She had the most lines, different dress and most screen time, she was given the advantage, but she didn't grab it. She wasn't able to shine and demand the attention from the audience, and that is why she didn't win. That is her fault, not anyone else's.

She let the fact that they're more famous get to her hair and she lost her confidence. When I first watched this, I thought, like many others, that Tae and Tiff had more lines, but when I re-watched it, I realized that they actually had fewer lines. I think the reason it felt as if they had more lines was because they stood out and captured the audiences full attention, while A Yeon didn't. Because we are more focused on Taeny, we feel as if they had more parts. It also doesn't help A Yeon's case that she was more reserved in her movements and expression. She pretty much had the same facial expression throughout the whole performance, while Tae and Tiff were enjoying themselves and having fun. I don't claim to be an expert, but to me, although A Yeon is a good singer, she doesn't really have a strong stage presence. However, this is probably just due to her inexperience compared to Taeny.

Keep in mind that : 1. A Yeon was a contestant at this point, a /fourteen-year-old/ at that, while Tiffany and Taeyeon are seasoned artists at the top of their game. Even if they toned it down to just being A Yeon's back dancers, they would still have more presence than her because of how established they are. 2. Different from Jimin and GD's collaboration, all three on this stage are girls. When all three performers are of the same gender and dressed similarly, the audience would naturally compare them in a way they can't compare performers of different genders. 3. Tiffany and Taeyeon had no synergy with A Yeon--or even with Kpopstar, for that matter--because they were probably there for a purpose. This was when TTS started, and this song is right up their alley. Be it the company or the managers that tell them, "Hey look, this gig will take up time but think of it as a good opportunity," they do have to promote themselves first and foremost during any public appearance.

Ayeon should learn how to control the stage with Yoona, Yuri, Hyoyeon or Sooyoung..or even Sunny. She got the voice which is already okay. But she's too shy and don't know how to control the stage for her own. Their voice are at the same level even more than Tiffany but not pass Taengoo. But the different between them is those two, TaeNy know who to control their stage appearance. So it's common for them to steal the sportlight from her. They supposed to invited YoonYulHyoSooSun to teach her how to perform on stage with TaeNy. YoonYulHyoSoo don't have a lot of lines in their songs but everytime they on stage, they know how to make the stage become their. People will focus on them while listen to the lead singers sing. It's not TaeNy fault here actually...lol...

To everyone who says that Tae and Fany should've toned it down with their performance so that Ayeon could shine more, let me as you this: can you ask a god to be anything less than a god? For me, Ayeon HAS talent, that is clear with her voice, but in this performance, she lacked stage presence, that's why people say TaeNy out shined her. It could be either that she was nervous performing with them (and who wouldn't? They're in freaking SNSD, the nations girl group), or that she wasn't comfortable with the song (it IS a very mature song and performance in general, and she was quite young at the time.) or the outfit. To me, she seemed stiff in this performance, but she DOES have an insane amount of talent, be it vocally or dance wise. (I am NOT a hater, just wanted to put it out there.)

I'm guessing its the song. Maybe it's too strong for Ayeon. I dunno. There are good point too if Tae and Fany didn't tone down and Ayeon Level up with them.. It's a case to case basis.. In this case, I think Ayeon got a bit intimidated. It was a chance for her to excel.. and I think she did at the last minute. Sometimes, it's not really good if the featured artist to tone down bec sometimes it means the contestant cannot level out him/herself to the artists. If I were the contestant I would love for my featured artist to give it all. cuz then it will be a good challenge for me to raise my bar up with them.. That's my take

Telling a great singer to sing poorly while not performing poorly is quite difficult. Like, they are supposed to satisfy the listeners, yet they are supposed to make one person stand out? I find it good enough that Ayeon could at least stand by their side. Besides, Ayeon simply isn't as good as Taeyeon or Tiffany, so for Ayeon to actually stand out more than she did here is wanting the impossible. They could've given her more solo time, but she already has the most, and cutting another one off would be very awkward. It simply wouldn't sound good.

i do believe the purpose of this colaboration performance is to test the contestants stage presence. if she can handle herself or even surpass the more experienced ones like taeyeon and tiffany on stage. even if this is just a special stage. judges still judge you by this performance.
