Looks really clean! How do you remove the baffle? Did it come standard with the baffle in?
@hiimchad9 ай бұрын
Thank you! There is a small screw that holds it in the end of the muffler. It was difficult to remove the first few times as the fit is pretty tight, but got easier after removal and reinstallation a few times. The safest was to get it out is to remove the end can and press it through from behind. The easiest way was with pliers and a microfiber rag once the screw was removed.

I have the carbon fiber version of that exhaust on my Tuono. I am very happy with it but the only thing I wish it had was some sort of protective shield where your right boot heel rests on the carbon fiber can. I ride with the DB killer removed and ride with earplugs. 👍🏻

Totally agree Dean! I think the SC1-R for the 21+ bikes have a little carbon heat shield in that very spot. Would have been nice if SC updated this one too, but oh well I guess. 🤷🏻♂️

I had a nasty wreck at my last track day. Broke my ankle and tore my meniscus (both required surgery). I’ve been off my bikes since the end of March, and I’m absolutely devastated. I’m cleared to ride again on 8/30, so I’m excited to get back out there. Just a bit nervous about knocking the rust off my old body and having a nice go like I used to. Meanwhile, I’ll just watch Chad rip the Ape.

@Basil43D Жыл бұрын
I made a similar change, went from an Austin racing gp1r to the carbon Akra slip on. Having a longer pipe like you mentioned makes a world of difference for riding. And even still these exhausts are definitely not quiet by any means, just not causing hearing damage 😂

I never did the shorty, went straight to the akra without baffle. This spring I put it in because Edmonton wants to fine loud vehicles (bikes) 1000$ I too ride like you and my foot hits the muffler (6'4") my s1000rr has no foot issue. Thanks alot for the video! I am also looking into this pipe since I am getting deaf with the CR-T, or at least my friends do they say.... I also have the Akra that came with the bike but that is to silent. Would you say that this is in the middle of those? Or is it close to the Akra? It is crazy expensive from Sweden due to the strong € vs SEK, about 1100$.
@hiimchad Жыл бұрын
My pleasure! To answer your question, I would say the volume with the baffle in is similar to the Akra, and the volume without it is probably close to the middle between the Akra and CR-T. I paid a bit more than that USD. It is a pricy exhaust, but I think it was worth the money!

I came from the other end. I bought my Tuono used with the Akra and it was too quiet. I knew from the Joe Tillary videos that CRT was way too loud so sold the Akra and got the SC1. I feel its the perfect balance. It's nice to have the baffle if need it for a track day that has low DB requirements.

how is he quick shifting without somewhat letting off the throttle?
@hiimchad Жыл бұрын
This motorcycle has an electronic quickshifter, so you do not need to use the clutch to shift or change throttle inputs. The quickshifter briefly cuts the spark when you press the shift lever, unloading the gearbox and allowing a gear change up. Clutchless shifting (closing the throttle briefly) achieves the same effect, but in slightly more time. The bike also has an autoblipper, which allows downshifts without use of the clutch lever or blipping the throttle manually.

Just slip-on or full system? I want also for my Tuono V4 Factory 2017 CR-T but will it sound that good or do i need to do something special with the exhaust system? I have Original exhaust on it right now, so i just take it off and put on the CR-T and thats it?
@hiimchad8 ай бұрын
This is technically a slip-on, but the stock piece contains all the emissions bits like the ex-up valve and cat. So, I think of it more as a 3/4 system. The only other thing you will need is a tune to compensate for the lack of back pressure, otherwise your bike won't run the best and may do some damage to itself long-term. I would recommend either the Gabro UPMap or OpenFlash tuning tablet to resolve those concerns. Plus, you should pick up a few ponies with either of those tunes! Also, I would encourage you to consider this over the CR-T. I had a CR-T on my bike for over two years and while it sounded wicked and looked sick, it was annoying to ride with for more than 20-30 minutes at a time, even with ear plugs in.

Hi! Thanks for the video love your bike! Do you have also installed upmap? If so, have you noticed a smoother performance without the baffle? I have a 19' with SC1R and without the baffle I feel the bike, the gears, everything in general is super smooth, with the baffle its more clancky. I think it can be due the high airflow restriction that the baffle causes.🤔

@greyanaroth Жыл бұрын
SC1R, imo, is sc projects finest exhaust. I'm still a fan of akra, for more reasons than just performance : the build and the sweet sweet exhaust note is unparalleled. And they tend to have better manufacturing processes so you get what you pay for. But the SC1R is great. As long as its not the crt 😅 Quick boot question : did your boots ever hit the graves can+pipe? My friend got an rsv4 and he's similarly sized to you and this has been his chief concern.
