When you are poor and struggling with a child without a car, you do whatever it takes to make it. She had no other option but to pick up her baby....blood in the backseat or abandon her at daycare. She did not have money for Uber/Lyft. She is barely making it. She does not have money or dental insurance to fix her teeth. She does not even have a washer/dryer. Hope all judgmental people are on their knees thanking God for all their resources and financial blessings.

Where was it illustrated that she was poor? She’s a single mother with a college degree. Just because she work at McDonald’s doesn’t mean she was making a little amount of money. She obviously could make it because she had her own place and was paying her rent. I don’t see anywhere in her testimony where her being “poor” came about

I have never seen a less productive cross examination of a witness. And the reason is because she is telling the absolute truth and is a prosecution's dream witness. All the defense attorney did was to highlight how credible this woman is. This is as close to a slam dunk as we will ever see in the courtroom.

The second time she said 130 or 2 AM. I don’t think that really matters. When she was asked why or how she knew he hadn’t spend the night she said because the blankets on her side of the bed were still neat and not like slept in. Then the attorney asked does he sleep in bed with you, like sleep to go to sleep and she said no he sleeps on the couch. Weird

Yes Maria Howard did a great job, some people on here don’t realize she just reconnected with him a couple week prior to this happening, he probably was stalking her too for a place to eat, sleep, chill out, his sister was probably tired of him too livin off her as he didn’t want to work, a bum! He was using several woman @ that, Maria had no clue, he was like a night shark stalking woman for money when she would go to sleep, I’m sure it’s not his first time, the judge said it best, I think She put up a fight, from the front seat to the back seat trying to get out, I think he was going to rob her but she saw his face while fighting so he killed her, poor girl had 30 dollars in the bank and now a life in jail for you the monster and you got nothin, he had no clue his car was on camera, how stupid are you cameras are all over everywhere! Maria sealed the deal as he was no longer able to use the story he fell asleep at a party and someone stole his car, he left from her house, this is the reason the defense could not put on a case, this busted his alibi “his made up story” He thought he was off scott free without a clue and they were already lookin for him, Great job Maria! Maria’s letter in the glove box was also key to finding all the evidence!

I dont blame her for not acting out of the ordinary. She obviously knew something wasn't right but she still had to take care of her responsibilities (work, rent, picking up her child etc.) She was literally minding her business because it had nothing to do with her. Also when an individual doesn't pose a threat to you or your child on an everyday basis, the last thing you would expect is that they have murdered someone in the car, whether or not there was blood in it. She's not stupid she kept questioning him throughout the two days and was expecting him to give her an answer. I'm sure if she thought at any point he posed a threat to her or their daughter she would have left or called the police. It must have been shocking to her when she saw the news and finally put two and two together. That's something difficult and shocking for someone to learn and accept. For all she knows he hit an animal, or got into a fight, or something happened with a friend that he didn't want to tell her or involve her. But I'm most certain she didn't think he murdered someone! For all you people that said "oh I would have called the police" you probably wouldn't know what to do until you had some answers! For all you know she was scared and acted calm to protect her and her child. Respect to Maria for having to go through that ordeal. Must have been so scary! I'm glad her and her daughter are safe!

Hats off to this young woman for her solid & honest testimony. And that's coming from an UnReconstructed Virginian, 51 yrs. old, that was brought to tears - not only for Ms. Josephson & her family, & bc i have daughter the age of the victim, but for the tragedy as described by the Judge at Rowland's sentencing. The outwardly apparent good son that hatched such a wicked brood of crimes and even gave thought to doing such a thing, is startling

Totally credible. Hardworking woman, single mom to her child, didn’t have him living with her even though they were dating, he didn’t even sleep in her bed. You don’t see women like this often. I don’t blame her at all for riding in the car to get to work when she was already late, or for picking up her child in it. You don’t take your time finding another way when your child is in day care. If you don’t pick your child up when expected, or before hours are over there are serious consequences. The fact she lived out her normal routine and didn’t lose her cool with him probably saved her life!

Instead of worrying about her missing tooth which cost an insanely high price to replace and she clearly stated she’s working as much as possible at a job that doesn’t pay a living wage much less dental & health insurance focus on helping to change that for Americans or say nothing at all! Better yet maybe just focus on the fact that she and her daughter have gone through a traumatic event & still are! Or focus on the fact that she’s doing her best to make sure he gets convicted for murdering an innocent woman! Or focus on the fact she’s likely doing her best to get up in front of the world to speak truth on crime someone she loved committed while knowing petty people online are going to judge her and insult her while she’s on the stand trying to do the right thing! So instead of judging this woman how about having empathy for her or acknowledging the courage it’s taken her to get in front of the world knowing the criticism she’s going to be facing but choosing to do the right thing regardless of that! The world we live in seems to lack empathy.

That they’re doing their due diligence to ensure it’s a fair trial by providing sufficient defense for the client. They’re public defense attorneys because Rowland couldn’t afford a private defense, so no, they didn’t do it for the money. If they did nothing it’ll open up opportunity for Rowland to file for an appeal for ineffective defense, which can result in a mistrial and retrial, a waste of tax payers money and a burden for the victim’s parents to go through the painful process again.

@@Tee1312Jay Coping? She doesn’t own a car or a washer and dryer. She has to work double shifts at McDonald’s. And she had to be a witness in a murder case which steals so much of your time, and mental and emotional energy. She has to live with the fact she let a killer into her life and didn’t know it. That’s extremely traumatic no matter how calm she appears in court. She needs more than a college fund. She needs help with the basics right now.

His defense is to literally repeat everything the prosecutor said? She just drove home that he was guilty.

Defense attorney was shaken by witness not being shaken. I'm sure she thought she'd have an easy time of it intimidating witness...no cigar! Lazy attorney.

I love how Miss. Howard stares at the defense attorney like, "Bish try me!"
