I'm a golf course superintendent, and our owners purchased a Lastec WZ 1000 rough mower to replace our Toro 580D. The Lastec turned out to be a nightmare. They have purchased 2- 61" Turf Tigers with the liquid cooled Kawasaki engine. We've got about 40 acres of rough to mow weekly mostly warm season grass ie. Zoysia and Bermuda grass. Thanks for the good review.

I just saw this mower at my local tractor dealer where I bought my Hustler Z Diesel 11 years ago. It sure looks nice. I’d love to get one when my Hustler dies. Problem is my Hustler still runs like new. Now it has the Shubara Diesel engine. Not that CAT that shook the mowers to death. I do love that mower. It’s very tough and the engine sips the fuel so it does save me money in that respect. I also like having the Diesel engine in an enclosed engine bay. Much more quiet than about anything. However, I’m liking the velocity deck and the low mounted fuel tank of the Scag. Probably not worth selling for the Scag because it’s been so dependable. Just curious if they’ve made meaningful improvements in the last 11 years.

You are 100 percent correct, most important thing is dealer support. I have learned my lesson. The 2 nearest Hustler dealers near me suck!!!!! The smaller dealer is owned by 2 brothers, one is an @#$%& and the other is great. The large dealer does not care about a solo guy like myself. Even though I have owned 3 Hustlers in a row and love them, I am switching to Scag. Ironically the closest mower shop to me just switched from Ferris to Scag. I have friends there also, they recently helped me with a carb solenoid on my new Hustler that was under warranty but arguing with the Hustler dealer I bought it from is the reason I am done. I was a hardcore John Deere man for years. Best cutting mower, best reliable mower also and I have owned nearly all the commercial mowers at one time or another. All the JD dealers in my area were bought out by a cooperation and loyalty to their solo guys like myself disappeared.

Im a die hard scag guy when it comes to sit on but i love my exmark turf tracer. In my opinion scags swzt doesnt hold a candle to it. Luckily my dealer carries both those brands. Nice mower I run a part time lawn care business with a focus on small yards I am currently running a Exmark Lazer Z E series 48" deck with a 20 hp Kaw but I been thinking about replacing it with a Scag Tiger Cat II 48" Velocity Plus Deck 22 hp Kaw but I ain't sure yet I need some advice.
@pandhlawncare3 жыл бұрын
I ran the tiger cat 2 for two seasons and loved it. I got the turf tiger 2 only because i was taking on much larger yards. The exmark is a great mower but IMO the velocity deck is what sets the scag apart. If you go with the tiger cat i would go with the beefier engine that they now offer if the wallet will allow it

personally im not a fan of bigger heavier ztrs like the tt2. i demoed one and ive ran the big 72in kubota diesels and it seems like the bigger heavier machines slide around on flat ground easier. im sure its mostly operator error on my part but ill go to turn and they will just drift around a lot more it seems than a smaller machine. the kubotas compared to a snapper pro 200 61in, the snapper stays planted on all grounds better than the kubotas did. again, im sure operator error plays a big role in it on my part but thats my experience. if i went scag i would get a cheetah because its lighter and has better engine options than the TC2
