This is my favorite mower...love it. Tiger CAt II 61" 2018 with Kohler Pro Command 29hp EFI.

Not trying to split hairs but it doesn’t matter what mower you’re using, if you mow over a crest of a hill it will scalp. Just as when you mow through a gully the grass gets cut higher. There isn’t a fix.

Thanks for this. I also appreciate your comments on the Patriot and it’s hill handling ability. I cut a fair amount of slopes and sitting on the Patriot the other day I thought to myself, “this thing just feels like it could hold a hill!” I mulch mostly St. Augustine so I’m thinking the Patriot is the way to go for me. I already have bigger mowers so I’m thinking about the 52”. The weight of the TC 2 kind of pushed me away. My Super Z is nearly 1500 lbs and is definitely too heavy for a lot of places I use it. The Patriot would be a solid 500 lbs under that. Thanks again. Definitely going to subscribe.

I’ve been doing this for many years and I still learn from others everyday. I can go into a mower shop and they can tell me how great something is but the best info comes from those who do what you do, day in and day out.

GREAT VIDEO!!!! I needed to re[lace an old x Series JD Garden tractors - our about 700 hours past 10 years on it. You were a big help...I just purchased this exact mower ...maybe an overkill for what I needed but I think it should last. I was concerned about the HP but I liked the engine version.We do not have any large hills - just a few small ones - this is just for our yard (about 2 acres - mostly flat)...we own a horse farm but do the pastures with a tractor.

I got the Tiger Cat II, 28 B&S. Excellent mower. Question, I may be wrong, but I thought if you dial up the weight to more than a person weighs, I thought it stiffened the seat more, less weight gives less stiffness. Just a thought. Thanks & agree on the pros & cons. 👍

@@pandhlawncare It was in back at Cox tractor on day one of delivery, there was a short discovered and was repaired. I am just now appreciating how tough the mower is. The EFI is good also. Thanks for the reply!

Does underneath the deck get clogged with grass when it is wet?

I purchased one about the same time your video was published. I agree about the pulley covers and after they are removed it is still hard to blow the grass from the area. Also your 52" is under powered but not as bad as a snapper 52" I had. I have the tiger cat 2 with the next deck size up with 26 hp efi Kawasaki. It would be better off with a 29-32 hp. I upgraded to the turf tiger 2 three weeks ago today. 37hp efi with a 61” deck. Its a beast. Il do a video on it at 100 hours. Thanks for watching

Oh I thought a 61 inch Scagg cheetah with a 38 hp fuel injected vanguard on it and I’ll say one thing that thing is a beast. It will cut anything from short to 5 foot tall. Been there done that no problem.

I have a 2021 Turf Tiger 2 61” now. That velocity deck with that much horsepower will cut anything

I certainly think your review is fair. As far as the center rollers go, they have them on the wider decks, but I presume they felt the 52" didn't need them. There may be an answer from their engineering department on that. The pulley covers cock and rub the paint off where they contact the deck, but that is my comment on that. I have the same engine, but I don't do hills. They have other engines that probably deal with that issue. I don't use my Tiger Cat II commercially, but I use it on a little more than an acre of lawn and additionally on a few acres of reclaimed forest. This area is quite rough, and beacause of the remaining tree cover, I can't effectiviely use my tractor to mow it. I run down small mesquite and grind up wood chips left over from a tree mulcher when I initially had this area cleared. I basically have used it like a brush hog as I maintain and try to improve it into a lawn. This thing is like a beast and really takes a beating. I don't know how long it will last, but it hasn't suffered any issues at 50 hours. When I'm on smooth sections that are just grass, I can open it up and it cuts scary fast while doing an excellent job. I'm hard on blades after all the abuse that it suffers. Fortunately the previous mower of another brand had to deal with unseen rocks, and I ruined several blades that couldn't be sharpened. This machine, however, has primarilly hit wood, so at 50 hours, the blades can still be sharpened. I love this machine, and if I kill it, I'll still buy another SCAG.

I will definately have another Scag, this time the turf tiger 2. I have demoed it and its a tank. But yes, i love my tiger cat 2. It is a great mower, mine now has over 320 hours on it. The 2020 is available with a 26hp efi engine but still no center rollers on the 52” but they do have it on the 61”. Thanks so much for watching and the comments.

Yes, I try not to watch reviews where the person has a brand new tool. Of course it's awesome brand new. I appreciate reviews after years of use. Thinking about buying a used Scag Tiger Cat with 960 hours to do our 2/3 acre. You can say that's overkill, but I would like to buy one last mower for 20-30 years. I got 17 years and running with my Home Depot purchase John Deere L100 lawn tractor, bottom of the line model. Looking for an upgrade, and a cool new toy I can baby for the rest of my life.

I dont think thats overkill. I would be interested to know what kinda price if its a tiger cat 1 with that many hours. A new scag of any kind should last you that long for just your yard. Have you considered the patriot? I owned one for 2 seasons and it is an excellent mower

@@pandhlawncare A dealer near me is asking $4K for a 2013 Tiger Cat, they say is 27 horse Kohler. The dealer has a great reputation, and cosmetically the mower is very clean. Probably a residential trade in. So I could save a grand or 2 over brand new Patriot. So, it's a decision I will make. I'm not quite ready to buy, so if I hold out until Autumn I will see if there are any sales of the new mowers. Right now I use a big box store riding mower I bought new in 2003, I estimate it has close to 1000 hours. Used it to plow snow for years. Never been in the shop. Runs good, but I'm ready to upgrade!

Im just not a fan of the stand on mowers. On my big properties i would rather sit, i feel like i have more control. I have a walk behind for my steep hills. The tiger cat 2 is a great mower and now it is offered with a 27hp efi engine. Im nearing the end of my warranty and i am going with the 37hp efi turf tiger2. I have demoed it and i think its the king IMO. Thank you for watching

I have a opportunity to buy a 2019 tiger cat 2 with the kaw 22 horse engine with 4 hrs on it for 7900 But should I go with the 2020 with a bigger engine it’s quite a bit more. I’m just starting out mowing and have about 15 yards looking to get more yards next year.any advice

That price for a 2019 seems high to me but i dont know what part of the country you are in. Id like to know how much more $$ for the 2020 with the efi. I only paid right around $8k for mine new with the same engine but its a 2018. If youre just starting your business and can do it with a tiger cat 2 i say go for it. People will argue other mower brands but if you have a good dealer(thats everything) IMO their is no better mower than a scag with a velocity deck

But the 2020 tiger cat 2 was not on the VRide2 promotion that just ended which was 18% off I believe the msrp is around 10k hopefully they will run a promotion for the sit down mowers. If you can get that 2020 with the efi it is more than worth the extra $2k if you can go that. Sheffield financial usually has 0% for 48 months. That would be a way better mower than the residential husqvarna ztr i started with. Thanks for watching. I may put a couple new ones up this week since its supposed to rain nonstop

I purchased my first Scag Turf Tiger in 1994 and I have been a Scag owner since then. I will stay a Scag owner for life. I do my own maintenance and I know every single inch of a Scag mower. If you buy a Scag commercial and do your maintenance on schedule,you will own this mower for life. Scag Freedom,liberty are residential mowers,which I would not own.

@@pandhlawncare Turf Tiger is a great mower. That's what I currently own.Keep an eye on your gear box. The older models did not come with a shroud to protect the Chevron seal on the backside of the gearbox shaft. I made me a shroud out of aluminum. I use 100 % lucas oil in my gear box. They are about 500 dollars new but I have rebuilt them on my mower. My first TT did not have the shroud,so the Chevron seal would start leaking because of grass wrapping around the shaft and cutting into the rear seal.I filled my gearbox with lucas and decided I would rebuild it in the winter. Well,when I pulled the gearbox to rebuild it , all the fluid had leaked out of the seal area but lucas oil was still running around the gears and bearings. I had o wear,no aluminum ,no metal. Lucas will not void your warranty,but do not overfill when changing because it has a thick viscosity.. What engine are you running on your TT?

Im at my dealer and the 48” is $7999 but you have to go up to the 52” to get the efi engine the 48” comes with the 22hp which is what mine had and its a good engine

They come with 2 different engines now. A 26hp and a 29hp. Mine was a 2018 model. It was a 22hp kawasaki

A lot of residentials have great engines. For the most part, the engine companies don’t differentiate between commercial and residential and sometimes the residential will have the same or maybe even slightly superior engine. But sadly, with residential mowers the engine will outlast the hydros, the spindles, and the deck 5X over. Or maybe not sadly if you’re looking for a used engine.

No worries. With the extra weight of a 61” deck i would still go with the vanguard. Even with a carb i started one at the dealer in 32degree weather and it fired right up. But with an $11900 price tag couldnt you get a cheetah? Id tell you what i paid for my new tt2 but i dont wana say on here. If you instagram send me a dm

Maybe I should ask about the cheetah? I was told 13.5k for the turf tiger... I would love to have it, but my budget won’t allow it. I appreciate all your help.

You have a great point about some peoples reviews. I think others that cut equipment down sometimes use is for more then it's capable of. Like mowing to fast on a residential mower and complaining about cut quality and poor ride/comfort. I just wish there was a scag dealer near me but there isnt. But my gravely has been rock solid for me. It just sucks on hills. Lol
