@@TwoBrosRC you mentioned throws being limited, can they be modified? I'm assuming it's similar to the turbo timber Evo ailerons, how they're all hidden and limited by their compartments. I like a good roll rate 😜 Also it looks like it's great on water, summer flyin for me is strickly water so I'm looking for a good water fleet.
@TwoBrosRC6 ай бұрын
By "limited", we meant that the ailerons only have so much travel they're capable of. You could get more throw out of it by adjusting linkages, but there's only so far they can move unless you rehinge them.

What FMS has to come out with next; A cessna 337 Skymaster!
@rgsvidz2 ай бұрын
I have (well, had 😔) the previous version of this plane, which I really love(d) as a very nice looking scale flyer - I too am partial to the Cessna 17x/18x family because of flying with my dad in a 172. Unfortunately, the first gen plane suffers from a fatal flaw - the wing spar is not nearly long enough and even moderate g-forces can overload the wings. That happened to me today coming out of a gentle loop - the left wing just snapped off just outboard of the spar. It appears that this new version resolves several of the design issues with original plane - quick connect wings, snap-on antennas, top-loading battery, factory 4S capability and a stronger airframe overall. But I'd say FMS fell short on the servos and the wheels. I put a 15g metal-geared servo for the rudder/nosegear on the original plane, along with Du-Bro low-bounce wheels (huge improvement!) and that is what I'd want to do on this version, too. Thanks for the honest and informative review! Great demo flights, too - I really enjoyed seeing what this plane is capable of. It's clearly got a better flight envelope than the old plane and while I'd still want it mainly as a scale flyer, it's nice that you can be more adventurous with it if you want to. Have you flown an E-Flite Valiant 1.3 before? I'd love to know how this plane compares. I love the Valiant, but if I can get the same type of performance from this plane then perhaps I can have my cake and eat it too - a no-drama scale flyer that can also be a fun aerobatic plane if you feel so inclined.
@TwoBrosRC2 ай бұрын
Plastic servos are junk - pretty sure we knocked it for that here. If not, newer reviews that account for avonics & lighting certainly do, and plastic servos are always a point off the score. The wheels sound like ass on pavement. That is fortunately something you can fix by running E-flite Viper 70mm wheels via this link: alnk.to/8PEaQjt We've never flown the Valiant, but might be something to pick up at some point!
@rgsvidz2 ай бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC Yes, your review was spot on and I already know ahead of time what mods I need to do if I buy this plane... thanks! Definitely check out the Valiant if you can, it's a sweet plane... just not the looker that the Cessnas are. It's also not a 4S plane.

Hey Jon I found another issue with this airplane. The housing connectors for the wing supports both broke away from the fuse on my 7th flight and my wings were flexing terribly and I thought the wings were going to fold up before I could land it!!! I used foam tack to glue them back in place. Hopefully they won't pull out again. Oh by the way I was not flying aggressively like you were on this video.
@TwoBrosRC6 ай бұрын
That's unfortunate, probably a QA issue with your specific airframe. Our strut mounting points never came loose, but it's always a possibility if they weren't glued well from the factory.

Hi Jon. You made the case for SMC for me on the big Bonnie. So I am in the process of changing out batteries to SMC. Quick question. What Charger do you use to get the 4.35 chge. Will I be able to accomplish that with my Spek smart chargers? Cheers Bob in Canada

@Michael-s2p3pАй бұрын
This review points to a major flaw in this plane. I thought it was me but after a few months it’s obvious online that many people have had repeated failure of the nose wheel assembly. It’s a flaw that FMS should fix but in all likelihood will not. I did the fix recommended to remove the sticky substance they placed in the front strut, got rid of the small wheels and replaced them with 2.5 inch for the front and 3.5 inch for the mains, moved the nose wheel servo forward a little and still the damned servo pops with the least amount of front nose wheel pressure on landing. I love how this plane flies but I seriously doubt I would buy it again without a nose wheel fix by FMS.

@@TwoBrosRC The nose wheel servo pops out of place and you have to remove the battery plate to put it back in, easy but a total pain in the a$$. This happens with the slightest bump on landing and the fixes I noted above helps a little but the damn thing keeps popping. I’m going to change it into a permanent float plane and get rid of this stupid landing gear, just need water/ice/snow. Google “FMS 182 nose gear problems”, I’m one of many that have this problem. SteffenRC posted a KZbin video on one of the fixes I noted above and SlowFlyer85 posted a video about the nose wheel problem. m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnLOqqdpq7N4j80, and m.kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmrFn52Xg6yKbqc&pp=ygURU3RlZmZlbnJjIGZtcyAxODI%3D.

Great video Jon, I bought the blue one on release day and have yet to open the box. My DX6E bought the farm, and I refuse to pay an astronomical amount for another Spektrum so I replaced it with a Radiomaster TX16s MK II, once I’ve mastered the programming I guess I’ll get into the box.
@TwoBrosRC6 ай бұрын
Hope you enjoy the radio. Just be mindful that Spektrum is more expensive because you're supporting an American company that pays American wages and had to front the cost of all the R&D into the protocols it uses. RadioMaster can be more affordable precisely because it doesn't pay Americans, it's not an American company, and it never developed the Spektrum protocol.

I have a question about the nav and strobe light situation. You did replug the navs so they stopped flashing, can't you just switch the connection from the strobe to the nav and so the strobes should flash than? Sorry i'm not an english speaker, i hope this is understandable. Greetings
@TwoBrosRC25 күн бұрын
The lights are tied into a servo hidden in the wing. You'd have to run a wire direct to it which is super annoying and wouldn't work with the quick connect system in the wing.

@@TwoBrosRC I understand. That is rly sad but i think maybe one could switch the LED's agianst flashing once. I think this should work with those where the programming is in the LED itself.
