You know what should be added to the category, weight. Is it a heavy or a light setup for the size
@TwoBrosRCАй бұрын
That's basically covered by "adequate thrust for most maneuvers". Weight varies between airframes and design intentions. It's also a very subjective thing - many people love light planes, others love heavy planes.

Jon what can I say...I agree with everything you said on this one. I don't say that often of anyone, but I've been saying this is the most impressive EDF to come out in a while. There are EDF's at the top of the pack in every size range, but the difference in the best and the second choice/choices is usually nominal. This one blows every other sport or sport scale EDF in the single motor 64mm range away by a good bit. Very impressive jet. We love it. Nice job bud!
@TwoBrosRCАй бұрын
It's not the fastest jet ever made, but what's super impressive about it is that it's so ridiculously slow. They really got this one right. Thanks Adam!
@ModelAV8RChannelАй бұрын
@@TwoBrosRC What's interesting on that front is we got 97mph with it...which is faster than any other 4s 64mm we've tested. Obviously not as fast as 70's 80's and 90s, but for a 64mm, pretty quick.

Hi Jon,Thanks for this review.. I currently have the 90 and although, following your directions , I can now fly and land b. it consistently without stalling and crashing, it is something that weighs on my mind when I fly it. I have been hoping, when I saw the weight of the 64 that this one would allow me more stress free flying and landing.

I struggled with landing the Habu 50 SS and have done quite well flying my Arrows F-86 64 mm. This Viper really interests me. I like the fact it will take a 3200 mAh battery, but not sure it would be worth it as flying with the 2200 seems great. My F-86 flies with 2200 4S. Great review...

Seems like an interesting flyer. It would be a hand launcher for me after a few flights with the. Sp far the flyfans L-39 is the sole 64mm single Edf that has retracts. It also works with small 6s setups and is around 200. The problem is freewing, fms, and eflight are just nicer birds. I still hope to see it happen and we be okay paying a little more.

A 64 with rudder, flaps and lights. Eflite already makes the best 50mm. (BTW Jon its a shame you wont review the little Habu.) Looks like they can add best 64mm to the list.
@TwoBrosRCАй бұрын
50mm stuff really isn't our thing.
@boardnski156Ай бұрын
That little Habu is really something else. It's a great little EDF for having fun. On 3S it's quite agile. On 4S it's a speed demon. Either way it'll take off from geotextile runways without gear. Having a rudder really helps line up things unlike practically every other 50mm.
@legndgrape5188Ай бұрын
@@boardnski156have you ran 4s on the stock baby 50mm ss?
@boardnski156Ай бұрын
@legndgrape5188 Yes, sure have. I use 4S 1300 mAh packs. That's good for about 2 minutes of booming and zooming. The throttle can't go above half on takeoff or the ESC cuts off. It's fine once in the air. Unlimited vertical, unlike on 3S. It's not as agile thanks to that extra weight. Pick the pack to suit the day. I fly mine on 3S 1500 or 4S 1300 depending on conditions and my mood.

Great review and always awesome footage it the planes in flight! I’m considering this jet and its brother the 70mm. Since you have flown both, would you recommend one over the other for a person that hasn’t flown a ducted fan in a few years? Thank you!
@TwoBrosRCАй бұрын
The 64mm would be significantly more forgiving for you to fly. You can work your way up to the 70mm pretty fast by flying it.

Comparison shopping 64mm sport jets, I’ve got my eye on either the FMS Futura 64mm or the Freewing Banshee 64mm, both can be had for $150-170 depending on vendor. Would you say the flying characteristics from the lighter wing loading of the Viper 64mm are worth the extra $80? At that point it feels like I might as well step up to a 70mm.
@TwoBrosRCАй бұрын
Consider the integrated receiver which costs more than $80 and you've got a pretty good deal. The FMS/FW jets are PNP and require a receiver.
@nolanwaddill8472Ай бұрын
@ oh yea I’m currently flying on a cheapo FlySky transmitter 😂 forgot to mention that, so I always buy the PNP versions
@fighterpilot714Ай бұрын
Lol this is exactly like E Flite took the FMS 64mm Futura but they made it look like a viper and perfected it

Pretty much. The Viper's wing load puts the Futura to shame. It's a much, much better flying jet.

Hi Jon, If you don´t mind I would like to see your review about the 64mm L39 EDF jet from FylFans. I feel, this jet in terms of price point, power and the available retracts could beat all other EDF jets in that class. Oliver

When you say " dump the flaps" you mean flaps down right? There are tose who would say dumping means getting rid of flaps, but I dont think thats the phrase right? Dumping the flaps always meant deploying them quickly to me. ..
@TwoBrosRCАй бұрын
"Dump the flaps" means drop them fully. It's a pretty standard term in full scale aviation.
@Zoey_the_RatАй бұрын
Are EDFs just inherently woefully inefficient themselves, or are these scale jets just shit aerodynamically?

EDFs in general are inefficient.
