I had scale issue this summer for the first time. And it came from garden so there is no way to avoid. After celaning and inspecting every day i was really exhausted. At the end of the day i've found an insectiside and just sprinkled on the potting medium. Now they're all safe now. But identifying is really hardest part. They were all on the flowers and they know how to camouflage. I traced them from the drips they left behind. Good luck to who is struggling from scale.

I've never had a problem with scale on my orchids, but they've somehow showed up to kill every bay laurel I've tried to grow, even the ones I started indoors, even after boiling the soil before potting. D: HOW??? They make me want to believe in spontaneous generation, because I swear they materialize out of thin air.

I am really sorry to hear. Tbh they always return around my orchids, I think they crawl and hide among the roots and leaves. I never had a massive infestation though

I've never experienced scale during my orchid care of two years. Last year, I noticed some bumps on the leaves of one orchid thinking that it was scale. It turned out just to be natural bumps on the leaves that left a little scar after removing. 🫤

I had these normal bumps before as well. I was glad to discover they were not pests
