1/48 scale model assembly of the P-61B "Black Widow" night fighter from G.W.H. Thank you all and enjoy watching!

I have both the GWH P-61A and B kits as well as 2x HobbyBoss 1.32 kits. (I am writing this as I watch the video) My only comment is... WOW! Beautiful job. There is a small "but", in that the wing spoilers would only be opened up on the ground for maintenance and cleaning. otherwise they sat flush with the wing. Also the spoilers and ailerons were connected so that they were never used together - An Either Or situation. Many pilots preferrred to use the Ailerons on takeoff and landing, (Training leftover as the Spoilers were very, Very effective... too much so at low airspeeds.) and saved the spoilers for combat use only. I also own the Hobby Boss 1/48 P-61C Black Widow, which I may cross kit it with another GWH B to get a good C. Now if only some kind company will do the PR version, the F-15C. Fun Fact - The recon version of the B-29 was the F-13! Last point (I promise) was that the 3 main Undercarriage doors on the booms are incorrectly configured. Once the main leg was lowered and locked, The small (Main leg) door remained open while the two larger doors closed again (BEFORE Touchdown) to prevent ingestion of debris from the coral and dirt runways they usually operated from, with just the smallest door open to allow the leg to lock in place. (this fixed a major issue with the A-model, which had only 2 main doors and threw a lot of debris up into the bay and into the boom behind it. (No Bulkhead at rear of bay) Enough to make removing it Very difficult and enough to affect the Blance of the aircraft. BTW, the GWH Box title of "The Last Shootdown" is not 'technically' correct. When "Lady" intercepted the Japanese aircraft , She never fired a shot. The victim saw them overshoot his aircraft and was so surprised that he lost control at very low altitude, and crashed into the ocean! They were awarded the "kill" anyway! (Yes I have done a lot of research for my P-61 kits.

I am thrilled to see these new Widow models. Growing up we only had the Monogram one. Most of that was OK, but the windows were a real night mare.

Beautiful work on the P-61 Black Widow. Every time I look at this kit something just looks wrong with it and I can’t put my finger on it. In saying that, I own the GWH F-15 B/D, Strike Eagle and Ra’am and TBD Devastator kits so I think I should invest in a P-61B kit

The first thing I noticed was a machine gun turret, made a little wrong and looks cartoonish. The second is poor detailing of th landing gear bays. Thank you very much for your comment.

Hello! This is a way to create realistic chips on a model. Hairspray serves as a separator between layers of paint. paint applied over hairspray can be easily washed off with a hard brush moistened with water.
