I use Createx regular formula and the Wicked Colors and they're very good, especially for adhesion (tape test) and hardness. For scuffing just use a scotch green scouring pad. You don't have to worry about sand marks, and it's cheaper. I know it's a personal preference, but I've tried the 15 minute setup method and spraying right after the 4012 and the 4030 and to me there is no difference. Maybe because I always dry with an airbrush after. I dunno. I really love the 4030 acrylic polyurethane. I use it with all my acrylic paints. Remember Createx dries semi gloss. From watching numerous videos I believe you can wet sand almost right after it air dries. Good stuff Thanks for another great video.

Thanks so much for that information. I’m painting modified polystyrene toys and have been having shit luck, both with the primer (Tamiya Fine Surface Primer) sticking and the Createx adhering to that. I’m cleaning/degreasing the raw surface before priming and scuffing the primer before applying paint and can’t figure out what the problem is. IfCreatex will stick to an ordinary grey spray can primer, I’m gonna give that a go. Thanks again for the advice.

Since this video was made, Createx has changed their "Go To" reducer from 4012 to 4011 for use in all Creates and AutoBorn paints. Just a short time ago, Createx has release a new 4021 reducer that is now their recommended reducer and is supposed to increase the flow and reduce tip dry. 4021 contains (from their SDS sheet) 1-methoxy-2-propanol (CAS # 107-98-2)

The createx "candy 2o" suggests using 4011 for reducing. Although its ready spray... I have the 4012 reducer, is that going to be an issue? As I am painting lexan bodies? I got he 4012 reducer because I was avoiding too fast of a drying reducer bcs I dont want my tip to build up with dry material and I wanted less overspray in my art work. I get my facts from being in the body/paint industry 24 plus years. I just want confirmation on the 4012 reducer's drying speed and application in regards to lexan bodies and the 4011 reducer.

A few questions to see if I am correct in what you have said I am only interested in the pearls / metallic 20 drops of paint to to 6 drops of 4030 then 6 to 8 drops of 4020 . Over black or gray primer can it be stynlrez? and does it need to be gloss primer? Or have things changed and should I wait for your new Wicked colors video. Complete noob question- I would like to know the most matt/flat paint. What paint brand should I buy, or is there a special technique I can use to give that effect?
@DansModelBench
@DansModelBench 3 жыл бұрын
You can get a nice flat finish by dusting a coat of polyurethane based matt clear, like the ones from Creative, Mission Models, AK-Interactive etc. Typically you build them up with very light dusting coats (opposite to glosses), until you have matted the subject down to the level you want. You thin them with their own thinner/reducer brand. The thinning ratios vary quite a bit, so best to lookup the companies website to get some ideas. Probably the easiest to start with is the Mission Models which is two or three drops of their thinner to 10 drops of clear. Once you are more experienced you can experiment with some of the other countless brands out there. Dan

Same thing different words. Like one brand calls it Primer and another calls it Surfacer
@The901meister
@The901meister 3 жыл бұрын
@@barbatosrex9473 Primers and surfacers are 2 different animals. A primer is used to etch or prep bare metal or previous coats of paint to accept a coat of paint. A surfacer is a primer used to fill imperfections and has more solids. There are also sealers for use when there is a chance of reaction between the new coat and the old paint. Also thinners and reducers are not the same thing. When you paint enamels or urethanes you use a reducer, and use thinners for lacquers. Both of them would be classified as solvents.

At around 18 minutes you can see the silver "crawling" or beading up on the gloss primer. Perhaps this paint needs a matte primer or a gloss primer that has been scuffed with scotchbrite?

You need to get the updated sheet, maybe do an added video on it, at least if you want your info up to date.. The 4012 is now not only not the standard reducer but not even produced any longer, though there is spill over stock of it still on the shelves of suppliers.. In some instances it didn't play well with the 4030 product. The standard reducer now is 4011. Also, now 4050 can be used in place of 4030, though so far both are produced. 4050 can also be used as a UV protective clear coat, as well as intercoat. So Createx has changed up a bit since you created this video.
