It's like naked cats. Out in the wild, yes they need scales. But honestly without scales they are less likely to harbor bacteria and mites and stuff that bury between scales. Scaleless can actually be very good for their health. Once they get older we'll be able to see the pros and cons but i'm thinking the pros will out weight the cons.

To those of you saying this is like removing a human's skin, stop. It isn't. Scales are on top of the skin. These snakes still have skin. Scales offer minor protection in the wild, as pets, it isn't necessary. A proper comparison would be a human born with no hair on any part of their body. They would look different, but it wouldn't be very harmful for them.
@cobra846110 жыл бұрын
It is like removing hair for humans, basically
@00sasukelovagirl0010 жыл бұрын
Exactly. There are breeds of hairless cats, it's no different.
@TakkuriHimare10 жыл бұрын
Yep.
@nightshadewolf9089 жыл бұрын
not necessarily. Human have evolved to not need hair since we are mostly bald anyways I would agree with you if we were talking about whiskerless naked mole rats. saying the scaleless snake is no different than a hairless cat is true, but hairless cats suffer as well, hairless cats require a lot of maintenance to keep them happy and healthy. They are prone to yeast infections, dry skin, you have to bathe them frequently but not too much. It's a full time job we don't really have much information on the scaleless and the problems they may or may not have but it doesn't make me feel any better when it's related to a hairless cat. Also I agree it's not like a human losing all of its skin but it's not like a human losing all of its hair either
@TakkuriHimare9 жыл бұрын
The difference is the species. Snakes solely need their scales for protection, mammals need hair and fur for much different reasons. Hairless cats have problems because not having fur effects how it grooms itself. Mammal skin secretes oils that can lead to issues in some animals if they build up in excess. Reptiles lack such oils. The only concern would have been if it lacked belly scales or heat sensing scales. It has skin that acts as a substitute for those purposes, as long as the snake is put in a soft environment, it won't suffer such complications

If this seemed to have any negative effect on the snake whatsoever, I'd have an issue, but they actually seem better off than hairless cats since hairless cats don't have whiskers, which they need to know whether or not they can fit somewhere. These snakes even have their heat pits and they can still move.

Let the babies pip. When you cut them out you're taking away any reason for them to grow egg teeth-a lot of new clutches aren't even developing them anymore because they're just going to be cut out. If an egg doesn't pip with the rest of the clutch, there's no harm in cutting it and helping the little one out (some would argue otherwise-if they can't hatch on their own, they don't deserve to-survival of the fittest and whatnot). But cutting all your eggs can mean the next generations won't be able to hatch without help.

The negativity about the scaleless thing will drop off as more and more are produced. People just bitch about it because it is so unusual. Not liking this mutation and claiming it is painful for the snake to live is exactly like saying it must be painful for Albino people to live. They were born that way and will never worry about their abnormality because to them they are not abnormal. Personally I like these scaleless ball pythons. It makes them unique. Honestly if you enjoy the other mutation that everyone breeds even though they are not naturally occurring in the wild then you really have no room to talk. None of these different color snakes or different patterns exist in the wild but we all still like them. There is nothing wrong with this mutation either.

Izzy Brenner Eventually a healthy snake will come out. After a certain amount of incubation time you will begin to see the snakes move in the egg and the egg will begin to lose it shape/ stability. Cutting the egg gives you the ability to look at the clutch immediately and ensures that no snakes are harmed in the hatching process (some snakes are to weak/ malnourished to escape).

A few hundred thousand = $300,000+ Highest price offered = $125,000 If you take off a few hundred thousand from the highest offered, you would be in the negative range, which would basically mean that he owes you. Did you really have to add the fucking equation in there? As if she didn't know 'if you take a bigger number away from a smaller number it equals a negative number'. It's not even like she said 'lower it by $300,000', she said a few. You could tell she didn't mean a literal few but you still felt the need to waltz on in here and make a lame attempt at making some one look stupid when in reality you just made yourself look like an ass. Perhaps Google image search would more properly cater to your attention span (or lack thereof)? You could clearly see the video's length before you committed to watching it, couldn't you? You should be grateful they took the time and effort to produce the snake, and then again to show it to us. You spent 9 minutes trying to see the snake while it took them months/years. Try to keep things in perspective. Calm down a bit and try to seek out things that make you happy rather than disappointed. It's a lot easier to tear something down than it is to hold it up and give support. People don't generally enjoy surrounding themselves with pessimists or complainers. I've learned that the hard way, but you can learn from my mistakes and trust that even if misguided, I'm being sincere.

So, any update on the scaleless project yet? What happened to the other one/ female? Why havent anymore scaleless been produced? Why wasnt the son/mr smooth bred back to mom to see if the scaleless can even be reproduced? How can you claim the scaleless is a super, or even genetic when so far it hasn't been reproduced? Why is it not possible that your scaleless are the same freak thing that popped up in Eugene Bessette's collection in 2007.. Eugene Bessette hatched out the first scaleless ball python from two random animals. Neither of them were scaleless heads. And to this day he has not been able to reproduce the scaleless. Turns out it was just some freak thing.. So, lets see here.. Your scaleless as far as we know, have not been reproduced. Just like Eugene Bessette's animal. The one/ a female has been MIA for a long time now.. Could it have died like Eugene Bessette's did at around 800g or so? So many questions, that are being ignored by Brian, and BHB reptiles. Wonder why? Maybe because a lot of people were ripped off when they spent 50k and up for these scaleless head animals. That to this day have not produced another scaleless animal? Or maybe not, I could be 100% totally wrong on all of this.. Would BHB or Brian want to make a public statement, and answer any of these questions, that many, many people want to know answers to? Probably not.. Ill just get blocked again for pointing out the truth about BHB.

Keep them hyped up, keep the demand high.. Because if something negative would come out now, it could kill the project. And thats not a bad thing, but all the money they would loose. Thats all they care about.. So that is why you see all these videos, and posts from the people invested in the scaleless project.. Defending it, praising it, and insulting people like Mike Wilbanks did when he called anyone that cant afford a scaleless ignorant. Why is all the damage control going on? Because the demand has fallen, the breeders with all this money invested into the scaleless project are getting worried.. Look at the desert female issues. That was known for years, but the original breeder kept producing them, and selling them.. Knowing there were issues with the females.. All about the money.... Then look at the banana/CG stuff.. The sex linked issue was also known early on. But yet until only a few years ago was it released to the public.. That was something that should have been put out early on. But it wasnt... WHY? to keep the demand for the project high, and keep them selling for insane amounts of money. Sure the scaleless have issues, and probably some major ones.. But none of that will be released until the animals get to the 2.5k and under price range... Until then there is to much money to be lost by these breeders. So they will be keeping the stuff hidden..

Just nd these guys today, at first I thought "wow, cool snake dude that know what they are doing" then I found this :/ to those who think they would survive in the wild, your wrong. This is taking one of their best defense mechanisms. I don't even know what to say other than wow. You should be ashamed. Playing on a defect for the sake of aesthetics and money.
@OrlyStudios9 жыл бұрын
Scales are made of keratin. They're like little fingernails, but while they do provide protection... That protection isn't perfect. A bite from even a beach mouse can break through their defenses. The scaleless snake isn't really at that much of a disadvantage. At any rate, I can see this mutation making sheds alot easier for the snake, so discomfort in an indoor setting may actually be reduced further.

He's explaining how he made the first scaleless ball pythons in the world. I think he deserves 6 minutes of "blathering" Especially since it took years for him to raise up and breed on a hunch.

Isn't this a little cruel? Don't they need the scales for protection? It's like breeding two dogs with similar, debilitating deformities in the hope they have equally, if not more so, deformed and debilitated puppies.... and he goes on about money all the time... this man's not a snake lover, it's ALL for his own financial gain. Crook.
@jenaipaspeur11 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend for you to watch all SnakeBytes' past episodes and you'll see how much passion and love he puts into his work. Sure, he may have always been talking about money in his shows, but like he said before, he gives value to all his animals. He certainly doesn't think of all his animals as experimental objects. He just needs to sell some specific animals to keep the utilities in the BHB shop running because if he didn't gain money himself, BHB wouldn't be running anymore. And that's mostly what all breeders do. They breed exceptional specimens to get the best out of it. How could you say he's not a snake lover? He started keeping snakes when he was still 15 years old. Without a passion and love for snakes, he wouldn't even be that guy you see on your screen. And yes, they do need scales but do you think they're torturing the animal in any way? Do you think they're just being careless about it? So yeah, they do need scales. But why do you think it's in captivity? It's not like they're gonna release it to the wild or something. Yes, he does need his financial gain. it's all because he needs to keep the utilities running in the shop, as I have said. I've seen your other comments on his channel and I think you're just a hater. Don't judge a book by its cover, as people say. Understand him, and he doesn't do it for all the money, but for all the care and needs of the animals and people in the reptile trade. I'm not mad, but please try as hard as you can to actually understand why breeders do this. :)
@5amH45lam11 жыл бұрын
Lianna Javonillo Magsino Hey Lianna, you know what - you're right, my comments have come across a somewhat abrasive. I'm going to delete them. I was just a little jacked up 4 hours ago. Relaxed now. I get you on his need to create these unique breeds to sustain BHB, but it seems an odd way to go about it - breeding snakes to lose their protective outer 'shell'. It'd be more humane if he bred two-headed snakes. I'm being serious. And the point about the snake being in captivity and not needing the protection of scales just doesn't was with me. Are these scaleless snakes just going to be kept in smooth, sterile plastic boxes, without any stimulus, to protect them? Seems cruel to me. I just think it's a questionable method to raise funds for a business which is supposed to be protecting reptiles. I'm afraid I'm still not sold. Thank you for the well intentioned, kind-hearted response though :) An addendum to my comment: one thing you did manage to do though was to make me see the error of my ways with regards to posting on here, so not all was lost! :)

I would think such an asset would be worthy of holding onto, not revealing it's origin of creation as to maintain the value and secure exclusivity in the sales, but then again such things are hard to keep secret, specially when the excitement and buzz around them is so great. Congratulations on such a wonderful breed! I'm sure it will not only lead to great finical success, but also to countless ecstatic owners who will be proud to call this marvel of an animal theirs!
