Thirty years ago I met the Ise's former bow sonar operator. Born in 1921, his name was Suzuki. He told me that from his service on the Ise he learned that you cannot do two opposite things at the same time. One can only be either a battleship or a seaplane carrier. (And if you wonder, yes, I made him sign a photo of the Ise for me).

That's cool! If you're able, snap a picture of the photo and send it to me. I'm interested in seeing it. scalemodelassassin@gmail.com

there's no real need to do both at the same time in the first place on any ship, you can't send and retrieve planes while giving and receiving shots (same as battleships that had catapults on their turrets, they couldn't shoot with the plane on the catapult)

great work and video. Especially the first view shots. Yes that me, I'm a champ in flipping the parts around the room, but then I will never find them again

Your skills are amazing. I once tried to assemble a half decent model ship. The key being tried.

Just watched this because I thought I could get tips for the Takom 1/700 Fletcher destroyer in my stash. The PE in this one is terrifying though! Good work!

Great video, I've been waiting for more ship builds, especially IJN ships! Oh, just one thing, you said Ise couldn't recover her floatplanes after launch, but I don't believe this was the case, floatplanes usually land next to the battleship and get picked up by a crane, this was standard technology since the early 1930s, I don't see why Ise wouldn't be able to do it.

Thanks and yep you're correct on the floatplanes. This ship could also launch fighter planes with no pontoons for landing though

@@ScaleModelAssassin huh, interesting, I had no clue they launched land based fighters off Ise. Thanks for the interesting fact

BATTLECARRIER Also nice work

Leave it to the Japanese to turn a Battleship into an Aircraft Launcher (since it’s not designed to have planes land).
