Just wanted to say I just purchased this pattern, printed it and cut it out and APPRECIATE so much that the pattern does not require as much paper as most PDF patterns I’ve used in the past. Much less waste of paper. Felt very intentional the way you planned this. Thank you!

Aww thank you! I really did try to make it the least amount of pages! I am glad you enjoy that! Have fun making the dress!

I found the most gorgeous toile de jouy fabric in burgundy and beige and just purchased the pattern too. I can’t wait to make this dress! I’m new to sewing and have only sew simple little dresses for my daughters. I’m pretty nervous so I will really take my time with it. A question: is the seam where the bodice meet the skirt quite fitted? I’m trying to decide if I can wear this dress without a bra in which case in need it to be quite supportive. Thank you so much! Hi from Texas, Lana

Sorry, I’ve replied to this so late but the seam under the bodice is not fitted. I purposely made it to go more straight down than hug under the bust. You can fix this on the pattern by pinching out some of the width in that area. It will make it more snug.

Hello! I discovered this pattern of yours from tiktok after falling in love with a dress that isn't made in my size and trying to find a way to make it myself. I even got a sewing machine and have begun teaching myself to sew just to make this dress. I wanted to know if the skirt could be made going around in a straight line rather than the rising under the bust? Would I just cut it across straight where it says "back skirt is straight across"? As a plus sized person I'm worried this type of skirt could make the dress a bit maternity-like... Thank you!

How long did this take you to make? My mother in law is coming into town next week and was trying to give her a time estimate for this project she said she’d help me with 😊
@LydiaNaomi2 ай бұрын
I’d say about five hours from print to finished garment. if you eliminate the skirt lining and scallops, you could do it in a couple hours or less!

I love your videos! I’m a beginner and you explain everything very well and easily! I was wondering if you can make a pattern and a video, on making the famous babydoll puffy dress from selkie! I’ve been searching tutorials on YT but no one explains it better than you do! 😌💕

I am so glad you think so! Maybe I will I just have so many other designs I want to get out in the next months. The Selkie Puff is beautiful though!

I followed this pattern twice now and love the design! But both times, the zipper is hard to pull through the part which the bodice and gathered skirt meet. Any advice?

This pattern is incredible! I’ve been looking for a pattern and tutorial like this for FOREVER. Definitely going to follow your pattern. THANK YOU!! What type of fabric did you end up using for the shell? I love the structure and sheen of it! Is it Dupioni Silk/Satin?
@LydiaNaomi2 жыл бұрын
Wow thank you 🥰 The fabric I used is very close to dupioni silk but I believe it was a synthetic. I found it in the upholstery section. I have seen a couple people make it with Dupioni silk and it looks the same!

Lydia, I must say you can make that machine talk. I will not attempt to sew a zipper in with a pin to align, I have to baste. Each time I have tried I'm always off. You can sew and is very creative. Beautiful dress. You are truly a designer. I love the fabric also.
@LydiaNaomi2 жыл бұрын
Wow thank you so much! I have found that this machine foot pressure is lighter so it doesn't push the top layer or fabric or zipper in this case as easily as my other machine. Maybe lighten your foot pressure? :)

I love this! Would you say the fusible fabric and lining is required for all fabrics or can those steps be skipped?
@LydiaNaomi2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Fusible interfacing adds structure and reduces stretch, you may be able to get away with that step with heavier fabric like denim and other twills but I do recommend it. Lining can be skipped, its just nice to at least have lining for the bust portion, it adds firmness and looks good from the inside :)
@alexandrahauge14892 жыл бұрын
@@LydiaNaomi Thank you! Bought some fusible interfacing and realized how much secondhand silk I have that I can using for lining :)

In the industry, what she did with fusing the interfacing to the fabric has a term; we call it block-fusing! 🤗🤗
@LydiaNaomi2 жыл бұрын
I didn't know that, thank you! Its definitely helpful for certain fabrics! and certain types of pattern pieces haha! What kind of work do you do?

Does that fusing give a fullness to the dress? They also do men suits with it.

@@Sew_OzzyWar_Made_This Amazing! I wish I got to participate in that on a large scale, I did some production with a bag company but its quite different than clothing. 😀
