You can make this any size and choose how you want your scalloped border to look. And the trick is using paper:)

You're the only person I've seen who has videoed how to use a 3D flange binding. I have used it a few times now and love it. I've just come to see if anyone has done a double flange but alas, none found as yet but I'm about to give it a go lol.

I made a lap quilt several years ago with a scallop edge and it was the scariest thing ever! Thanks for taking a scary, yet beautiful application and making it do-able. Freezer paper is magic!

A good tutorial for scalloped borders. Your runner is adorable, it would be great in Christmas fabrics as well.

Hi Laura, I was very pleased to find this tutorial because you demonstrated how to add flange to a centre piece. I had asked you a question about how the corners were done after watching a tutorial about adding a flange. Lo and behold - I now have a demonstrated answer together with your reply to me . I love how you work out the scalloped edge for the runner and the Easter quilt. Thank you and keep safe in this time of social isolation.

Thank You SO much. I’d been wanting to do a scalloped edge, but I wasn’t sure how to go about doing the binding. I’d made a template on some joined cardstock paper, with one side a Scallop edge, and the other side a Wavy edge.. so I can trace whichever I want. I Love it!

Thank you Laura for showing us how to do the scallops. I've been wanting to try this for some time. Now you've made it really easy. I don't have to order the scallop ruler either. I made 2 pillow shams that I wanted scalloped edges on. Now will try this. I will post a photo when they are finished. Thanks again and God Bless.

I love flanges as they make a quick and easy "border" of a contrasting color. Those gentle scallops and your clear instructions of folding, cutting, and tracing using the freezer paper so one can iron on the pattern vs. pinning it down makes it look so appealing. Thanks! On another topic - the filming and editing of your videos. I'm always amazed at the consistency of your voice's volume in the many steps of assembly. I know from the interview Leah Day did of you that you do it all - in that you have a LOT of specifically placed lights set up (and maybe several microphones?) before you sew, film, edit, and download(?) it to YT. And you post them twice a week. Where DO you find the time to travel for teaching engagements or quilt retreats? Or have you found some secret to only get a couple of hours of sleep each night and still stay healthy, bright and cheerful? You are one very talented lady.

What size fabric size was your binding before you ironed it in half? One half inch?
@SewVeryEasy
@SewVeryEasy 4 жыл бұрын
I like to cut my binding at 2 1/4" but you can also use 2 1/2". I fold it in half press it, and then stitch it on the quilted item with a quarter inch seam allowance.
