Spot on Col with the scams, unfortunately, where there's tourists, there's roguery, however, I must say, Krakow is one of the safest cities I've ever visited, but like anywhere, be vigilant. Twenty years since I first visited and been back so many times, your videos are sound.

Where Is the Police?????
@travelwithcol4625
@travelwithcol4625 3 ай бұрын
@simonec3512 the Police do Not help you in Krakow unfortunately. They make it very difficult for you to report a crime, keeps the crime rate low on paper and helps tourism! When I was a victim of the crime I went to the Police station at the main square, they told me that I cannot report a crime at this Police station and gave me an address of another Police station in a different area. When I got there they told me that I cannot report the crime unless I pay for an Interpreter. For more of my Tours then please Subscribe @ youtube.com/@travelwithcol4625

Since 2022 i visited this city, wich i followed in love, 6 times. Never felt myself unsafe. And many times i walked arround the city alone. Always payed the fair price for everything I eat and drink. People always should do homework before traveling to a country with different currency. Scammers are in everywhere, including where i live (Antwerp - Belgium) and where i am from (Porto - Portugal). BTW Pro tip: when you added a „j” letter at „główny” - you made it sound a bit RuSSian. That’s not the most fortunate thing to do here 😉.

Then like 5 other people said the exact same thing on the same day. And we was like "Alright, this is a bit dodgy. They aren't getting anything now." It's a shame that some people who are running scams like that are ruining charitys for people who might actually need it.

Got a feeling this is your first time in Krakow, plenty of scams like these are all over Europe actually, but the little difference in Krakow is what you've missed out on. The people approaching you at night trying to get you into a 'titty bar' are on commission as well, they're quite lenient towards tourists, inspectors on the tram will usually let you off, even the Police won't fine you at times, you will get some people over-charging you sneakily still.

@@travelwithcol4625 I just purely observed the situation. I'm visiting as I live in Gdańsk. I didn't need to change any money. To put things into perspective, my man in Gdańsk usually gives me .02 below the national bank rate if I need to change to GBP to PLN. i.e. if the national bank rate is 1 GBP = 5.17, I can be sure I'd get 5.15 as I'm a regular customer. Even if I weren't a regular customer, I'd be ok getting 0.05 below. I suppose the offices in Krakow that offer 0.07 below the national bank rate are respectable. But anything below 0.15 is robbery in my opinion.

What is your point with Money exchange places??? Of course buy rate is different than sell rate. This is how they work, how they make money on that difference. And they advertise buy rate on front door as this in Poland so most clients are Polish people buying foreign currency. How is that a scam???

In Krakow the Majority of people changing Money are Foreigners changing GBP £ or Euros 💶 to Polish Zloty, it is a Tourist city with around 20 million tourists per year. Many of the currency exchanges advertise a Rate outside which is to Change Polish money to GBP or Euros which is Misleading and many tourists felt Misled…. The currency exchanges make Big Big money by sneaky tricks like this

@@travelwithcol4625 So you consider law enforcement a scam? 😉 I guess some people in Poland would've agree. Fortunatelly things have changed - most people do not cross on red, those who do are usually also be frowned upon by others. It's a matter of safety. For me personally what works even better (than potential ticket/fine) are those crossings where you see on the opposit side a sign saying "Crossing on green you give an example to children" 🤗.

@pluki1357 most of my Subscribers are from UK & Abroad. In Poland yet get a Fine for crossing the road but in the UK and most other countries there is no law making it illegal to cross the road on the wrong light. It was to make Tourists aware so they can prepare for different Laws so they do not get a Big Fine like I did. I was at Plac Ghetta when the Police fined me, I could not find the place to cross the road and it was an unpleasant experience.. did you watch my other tours?
@pluki1357
@pluki1357 10 ай бұрын
@withcol4625 Looks like there is a whole world to be discovered for you/your fellow countrymen here 🤣. At Plac Bohaterów Getta there is not even a crossing with traffic lights. So you could not have got the fine for crossing on red light. The fine must have been for crossing not on the designated place for crossing. That's another rule here: in a built-up area (town/city/village) you are legally obliged to cross only on crossings that are marked on the street - white painted strips (we call them "zebras" 😆). The rule does NOT apply where there is no "zebra" within 100 meters. If further than 100 m from a "zebra" you are legally obliged to (1) cross at a 90 degre angle to the axis of the street (2) give way to any incoming traffic and (3) do not cause danger to traffic. BTW: it was even in the local newspaper about that spot at Pl. Bohaterów Getta that Municipal Guards / the Police keep an eye there. Many people there going out of the tram did not want to go to the pedestrian crossing or to the underground passage there and were cutting corners by going straight to the opposit side - running accross the street, which is no allowed there.

Or they are things common to most tourist cities, as such as the money exchange offices.Also some things you mentioned are not "scams"-charging extra for milk or butter at restaurants, fines for not validating tram/bus tickets and fines for not crossing the street legally. I am a 68 year old widow from the US who has lived in beautiful Kraków for 11 years. Not once have I been scammed or been a victim of crime. I have traveled over much of Europe. From what I have experienced living here and traveling extensively, I feel you rather over dramatized several things about Kraków. For people visiting here in the future, just use common sense as you would in any tourist city.

Thanks 🙏 for your Opinions Sandra! I have also lived in Krakow for 10 years. I work in the Tourism industry so I have actually met people who have been scammed or robbed here and Fined. As I said at the start of the Video it was ways Not be Overcharged or Misled, I was shocked recently to be charged extra for a tiny drop of milk with my Tea so the tea came to €5 which is much more than in the UK. The Money Changing offices Advertising an Amazing rate Zloty to £ € outside is totally Misleading and the tourists only realise after changing their Money, I wanted to warn people. I was fined for crossing the road at the square with the chairs, hidden Police camera, it was not clear where and when to cross and I was confused, it’s nice to raise awareness! Yea Krakow has Beautiful Architecture and there are so many reasons to visit here but Inflation is so high here, on my other Videos I promote how wonderful the City is but I wanted to also show people the Negative aspects too and the Things to watch out for here! @@travelwithcol4625 Thanks for your replies. I guess my point was that the city in not overwhelmed with homeless people. I've been living here for almost 30 years now and believe me - in the 90-s and before Poland joined EU situation was worse. I get your point and also understand that you needed some content, but I wouldn't agree with the wording you used with respecect to that particular problem - which in fact is mariginal here nowadays. If at all - some homeless people are more visible e.g. at Dietla street where they'r being fed by Caritas. You can see them there standing in queue for food, its some 30-40 people. But even those are not a real problem, they usually are not agressive (althoug mainly they are alcohol addicts). All in all, I think your video is very informative and can be usefull for foreigers.

Thank you for your comments! The homeless in Krakow only approach foreigners so you might not notice them as a Polish Native. Yes there are less than before, I was told that they live by begging tourists for money and that’s how they get by. Please check out my other Tours from Poland @ youtube.com/@travelwithcol4625

I assume they are not Ukrainian men asking for money as they should be in their country fighting 🤔

👍 they are definitely Ukranian, both Men and Women. Hundreds of people on the main square and all the streets off the square, they use high pressure sales techniques.. you will see the girl at the start of the video. I get hit on by them every day, I refused to give one day and she said “I hope you sleep well tonight” I was told that many are scammers and some are real, it’s hard to know which ones are legit … any ideas how you can find out ?

@@travelwithcol4625 they should deport them, mem should not be on Poland unless they have a valid reasons, for women it's different, I will steer clear of them next week, I don't spend much time in the old town nowadays.

Maybe they are.. I’m not sure what country they are from but yes I would guess from Ukraine. It’s hard to know which ones are real and which ones are scammers.. they are very pushy and use hard sell sales techniques so I think the are Business Men behind it.
