When I saw this deathtrap of a van in your video I thought: "OMG that thing is just too far gone. Don't waste your time on it." At one time ,here in Australia, hundreds of VW's and Nissan Urvans were made into Campers here. The roofs were cut off and the fiberglass topper fitted but no rust protection was used.They all leaked and the water would rust everything below the roof. My younger brother had a thing for campers and owned a VW and and a couple of Nissans which looked great but were absolutely rotten. That Transit is pretty typical of those I looked at .

I’d be very surprised if this is not the same vehicle. But if it is, a very good friend of mine bought this in 2021 just at the tail end of Covid. He bought it from a motor home dealer in Lincolnshire for something like £12K. It had a new MOT and when I saw it the alarm bells started ringing. On closer inspection I could see it was a bodged up death trap. He ended up losing £4K just getting them to take it back at his loss, this was after he’d carried out a lot of additional work internally. He got totally ripped off. Everything about it looks the same to me, even down to the filler in the wheel arches. Well done guys on commencing with repairing this van properly at last. Look forward to seeing the next video on it.

"They don't make um like they used to" lol.. Good old fords, I would like to say "thats shocking" but being a Transit it's kinda standard at least around near me. £80 bung sticking out of the ashtray usually wins you an MOT pass. Never done it myself but I know this is a thing.
@user-re6yo7tj5s20 күн бұрын
@@Handlebar-MustDash'A thing' would be an understatement,it's rife. I knew of a guy who ran a test station,4 bays,one office with the windows papered over containing a guy doing 'over the phone test' all day long,for five and a half days a week. Even emissions compliance certification for retrofitted exhaust treatment systems for HGV's is apparently buyable. A dealer I worked for as a young lad in the 80's had a council test station he used,by the time we'd got out of the car the tester was already writing out a pass.I know of a few testers who's own cars,friends cars or families have never seen a ramp,I've seen plenty of stuff myself that's taken far more than the year since the last test to get to the state it's in.One particular case being where I had to tell a guy that the sprinter he'd just bought had no rear floor,which had been replaced by ply screwed into the floor rails. Upon digging a bit further, it transpired that the original owner had used it for shingle which wore the floor through.He sold it as spares or repairs 7 years previous but it had tests for those 7 years,at the same garage which by then had obviously just changed owners again😂😂
