It's not just that they don't realize that their time is wasted, they actually have to deal with intelligent replies to which they have no answer other than to yell,: "Are you stupid?" Only half the time Rinoa comes across as silly and clueless, but than she will have a reply that leaves them with no answer at all. Which makes that so funny to watch. It's highly intelligent trolling and they are not only too stupid to catch on to that, it exposes them as being actually stupid, which in turn, makes them very angry.

The thing is the scammers are in a "rush" because their pay may depend on how long it takes to get the scam successfully completed. So anything that can slow down this process regardless if it succeeds or not is a plus to those opposed to these scams and a major liability to those who are conducting them.

I have a gaming keyboard that can capture ad hoc keystroke sequences. I think it would be just super to program the following sequence: "$400[Alt+Tab]" or whatever amount my "refund" is supposed to be. What that does in enter the string, then change the active window away from the command prompt. When the scammer tries to put extra 0's in, they'll just go into a different tool. But I think my most brilliant plans pale in comparison to what Rinoa ad libs on the spot. My hat is off to you, Rinoa! Even though I have to go buy a hat first, I shall do so, put it on my head, and take it off again. Just for you!

It really is. The reveal is a sense of instant gratification but the idea these scammers are getting no closure on how and why the failed might eat at them for a long time or at least for a while which is far more rewarding and leaves them vulnerable to make the same mistake again.
