Brilliant. I’m definitely buying one for my Touring setup 👌🏽

Great video. You should make more! Too many 4wd / overland reviewers have no technical insight and fake it. But no more background music please.

Great content and convinced me to buy one and dump the one from Supacentre, which is cheap but a bit nasty Thanks

What a great review. I bought one from you guys and only touched the surface of what it can do. Thanks for the info. 👍

Where do you find the torque converter temps? I can only see Trans Temp 1. Cheers
@stuartkcalvin3 ай бұрын
Trav, that was great. I have a PXIII which is tuned, oil cooler and better intercooler setup (3.2, straight 5). On a trip earlier this year, I towed my 14' off-road van from Canberra to Mallacoota (near Vic border on the coast) and was getting 105C - 106C regularly - like the Patrol, do Rangers run hot? I bought a PWR radiator after that but am yet to fit it. If I'm getting 105C+ in Spring, what will Summer in Northern Oz do?!
@PerthDieselPerformance3 ай бұрын
Hey mate! PDP Team here - do you have bullbar, spotties, winch, etc at front of your vehicle? Anything blocking airflow will invite higher running temps. The PWR intercooler will help due to the larger and more efficient design compared to factory.
@stuartkcalvin3 ай бұрын
@@PerthDieselPerformance Thanks, all the usual goodies but I have low mount winch. I've bought the PXIII PWR radiator which is yet to be fitted - that should lower temps, I suspect.

These are a great gadget. I've had one for 6 months now for off-road driving in a 23 Fortuner. I have multiple important gauges displayed and audible warnings for critical things like coolant temp, trans temp, oil pressure. One I really like is current gear when in "sports mode". The standard display only shows maximum gear and there are times its really handy to know with certainty what gear you're in. One problem I do have is that it often switches off for no apparent reason. To restart it I have to disconnect the cable at the back then plug it back in and it reboots. If you're reading this Trav, what do you advise? Its potentually quite a serious problem when you're relying on things like the coolant audible alarm to save your engine from cooking! ☹

thanks for the VLOG! Very useful! BTW, what would be critical temp for AT on Prado 1KD? And what would be critical coolant temp, also on Prado 1KD? Same for EGT 1 and 2...

What do I do when I have the 87 Liter factory Tank and a 180l aftermarket Tank installed, were the aftermarket Tank pump Diesel in die factory tank by press of a knop? How does the system figured my range out?

Is “trans temp 1” on the scan gauge the pan or torque converter on the LC300 - I’m guilty of not reading the instructions 😢
@AlexSwan8 күн бұрын
Trans Temp 1 is pan I think. Can’t find torque converter temps. Did you work it out?

Does it turn off with your vehicle or does it stay on all the time?

Have you tried one on a facelift 79 single cab 2.8L Auto, if so any issues? I know my sparky needed to use the Hilux portal on his code reader to detect & clear codes.

Is this scan tool going to work on my 2023 2500HD Chev,,, Ive already had a flat battery which stopped the Park Brake disengaging. Had to call my RAC roadside who reset and disengaged the park brake with his Snapon Scanner/reset tool, very frustrating being stuck and unable to move for a day!

Question guys, will the Scan gauge 3 work with tuned engines and transmissions? 200 series VDJ.

Yes!! Given the parameters haven’t been turned off or maxed out by the tuner (which a good tuner wouldn’t).

I've had mine since they were released and unfortunately it's really inconsistent, on my n70 my engine load reading for example will read 0 when I'm in 4th gear then it will randomly show a reading 1 or 2 gear changes later.
@Reflect7443 ай бұрын
Any ideas why it jumps all over the place, especially when I'm on Highway speeds doing consistent revs/speed.. Awesome at clearing and reading codes
@PerthDieselPerformance3 ай бұрын
What year Hilux? Some of the N70s are incredibly limited by the readings picked up by the ScanGauge (or any simple OBDII reader for that matter)

A good unit however not universal - the Scan Gauge 3 can go from one vehicle to another no problem at all. Also has a modern design and screen display, making it easier to navigate and use.
@1989cranston3 ай бұрын
@PerthDieselPerformance the scanguage is universal. It's plug and plug between vehicles, with only a few different vehicles needing a code or 2 put in to see the other options. All easily available online for free. I dunno mate, this thing looks anything but modern.
