A quick how to video about editing your scan list on a Motorola XTL2500 mobile radio. I've got a conventional scan list set up. Your scan list needs to be set up via CPS and written to the radio first, before you can edit it.
The example I have here is obviously an XTL2500, but Astro25 series radios should all function the same, so this will work for XTS and XTL series radios.
Some things to note: you need to have scan lists set up, and the menu option set on your radio to do this. The menu option is PROG. In the video, I mention the scan list is limited to 15 members (channels). That is for conventional. Trunking is limited to 10.
When you enter the PROG menu, you are given options to edit other things, what we are doing here is editing the scan list. You will know what channels are listed by the icons that appear at the top of the radio's display. There will be a flashing □ (square box), and that indicates you are in the scan list programming mode for the channel/zone you are sitting on. Further, if the channel you are sitting on does not show the scan icon, it's NOT included in the scan list. Those channels that ARE on the scan list will show that scan icon, the Z (⭍ ok, it's close enough).
To get this going, here are the steps needed:
1. Fire up your radio
2. Navigate to the PROG menu option, and enter it by selecting it
3. Select Scan from the sub-menu that shows up, and if you see the flashing □ you are ready to program
4. Select your options from SEL DEL and RCL
--4.1 SEL will add the currently selected channel to the list if its not already there
--4.2 DEL will remove the current channel from the list
--4.3 RCL will show you what's already in the list if you don't remember
5. You will know if the CH you are on is in the scan list, if the scan icon is there
6. Add or delete list members by:
--6.1 Changing CH using normal methods
--6.2 Hitting the SEL or DEL key to and or delete the current channel from the list
--6.3 To add channels from other zones, uze the pad to scroll left or right to navigate to the zone
7. When done editing, hit the home button on the radi to exit the menu and your changes are now set
8. Profit!
