Sorry I did not mention I have the V600. I have worked all day trying to find the 'key'. It was advertised for "large format' which I believe the 2.25 includes.
@MrBlubb802 жыл бұрын
Don’t buy the v600 for slides or film! It is total crap ! The resolution is just not at all what it should be, apparently because the scanner cannot accommodate for the distance of the slide/film to the glass. I tested it and compared results with a plustek slide scanner. Just try for yourself and you will notice the tremendous difference. There’s also resolution comparison videos here on KZbin. Even taking photos with a macro extension tube and a DSLR will get you much better results than the v600!

THIS WAS AMAZING ! I bought the Epson V600 yesterday and my 1st scans were terrible. I discovered the problem was the white board inside the lid that you removed when scanning negatives. I did not know this and it has saved me from chucking the whole lot in the river. You legend, thank you for this. It also now allows me to select the proper negative mode.

I just finished scanning 1,900+ 35mm slides that were over 50 years old. They were stored in their original boxes, all most all of the slides were packaged in a cardboard frame, only a few were in a plastic frames. Using the Epson V600, I scanned at 600bpi and it took on average one minute per slide, this does not include the time to sort your slides, remove dust, and arrange them in order (numeric, by month/year etc.; only if you can still read the stamped impression). I used a post scanning photo processing software called "ACDSee" to selectively improve details such as; cropping, straightening, color, contrast,....etc. I don't know what it would cost in the end or what the quality and file structure you would receive when using commercial services? I did am early on math comparison and it was clearly an advantage to do it yourself, if you have the time and if the scanning equipment was acceptable and affordable and you have the desire to do it right. I would absolutely recommend rebuy my Epson V600 scanner again, and I would put the time and effort into organizing, cataloging, and photo post processing those 35mm slides that I wanted to enhance or restore, the work is rewarded. Memories are just that, my recommendation is to by a quality scanner (like the Epson V600) and spend the time required to recapture your 35mm slides and photos into digital formats that you preserve forever - PS: hopefully your family will value these digital assets as much as you do, I'm afraid they won't, but until your time comes, convert and enjoy your memories that can be stored in the cloud, shared instantly, and projected my mirroring onto you 65-75 inch OLED TV's.

You are a savior! I'm a tech idiot that has thousands of photos, slides and negatives that I want to digitize. After much hand wringing while trying to decide whether or not to use a scanning service or try to do it myself, I just went out and purchased the Epson V600 scanner. Your video has probably saved me tens of hours trying to decipher the typical technogratic jargon that usually ignores the dozens of questions we neandrathals have with a new purchase. You have truly eased my anxiety and given me a lot of condfidence to begin using this scanner. You instruction was clear, easy to follow and illuminating. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!!!

Nice tutorial. I would add that for the highest quality scans one should use the Silverfast software rather than the default Epson tool.
@fortyoneshades6 ай бұрын
I just did an extensive test of Silverfast, Vuescan, and Epson Scan 2. Epson Scan 2 (newest version) gave the most accurate, consistent scans of photos and slides. I was surprised but had read this from others as well so I tested. Was ready to pay for one of the other programs, but I'll be using Epson Scan 2.

Worth mentioning that when you scan old films at least you will have to turn the dull side up. The only purpose for me to scan in extra high resolution is when I have to do some reparations in photoshop. It’s necessary to have more pixels to work with there if you want food results. Then you just export it to the usual 300dpi. For PS processing I use tiff format instead of JPG. You are limited by that compressed format.

I've got some old 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 in. slides that I'm having trouble scanning. They don't really fit any of the guides. If I lay them directly on the flatbed, it insists on cropping them severely top and bottom. Even in Professional mode, it won't let me set the original dimensions correctly. Is there a way to scan 2.125 x 2.125 inch slides? Also, the software you're using seems different than the Epson Scan software I have....?
@paula-lagos-gatografias3 жыл бұрын
If you lay them directly on the flatbed you may get newton rings in your pictures, you have to put the negatives between 2 to 4 mm separated from the scanner. The professional mode lets you select the frame, you have to uncheck the 'miniature' checkbox so it shows the whole 'page'.
@liatfeller2 жыл бұрын
Is there a best software for batch scanning and processing hundreds of slides? Obviously I’ll have to physically switch out every four slides, but it’s so tedious to edit the crop and settings for every single shot every single time. Also curious if there is a frame that you can buy to do more than 4 at once!

Hi Daniel, I am about to purchase an Epson V600 Scanner. I enjoyed your review. Besides the accessories in the box, might you recommend other items to purchase at the same time, i.e., cable from scanner to computer, cleaner for scanner, extra hard drive storage for the photos, etc.? Thanks for your help.

After I had scanned about 500 negatives, my V600 started drawing yellow bands in the output. To correct that, I picked up the scanner and shook it. That was about three years ago. A couple of weeks ago, it started drawing a faint pink band. Shaking repaired that. Suspicion: there is debris landing on the lamp or the sensor. Aint nuthin perfect...

I just bought one of these today. I was done with the printer / scanner combos i was using because I didn't need to print as much and ink was too expensive for how little I printed. Hi, I am using Epson Perfection for digitizing colour film negatives. For the most part it is working well. When there is a clear strip between pictures, it works fine. However, I learned that at one time, there was a solid black line to mark the edges between pictures. Those pictures would not scan properly. Is there a setting in the program that I can adjust the transitions between the photos? Thank you!!!
