I always assumed that Susan was killed off because the writers painted themselves into a corner. The George character centered on his being single and searching for love, so it would be a buzzkill to have him get married.

This revelation suprised me as well. I loved Susan. Her death was to me like the top of the show. Killing someone by making her lick glue... LOL. Funny. I never liked Dreyfus... She screamed, I could always tell she was off character... And when you see the bloopers you see she was always, contantly breaking out and interrupting the shot due to her constant laugh. I just think it should be possible to keep it together more often than she did - being a professional and all.

Susan dying was one of the greatest moments of the show. It shows that any serious moment was out of the question and it was just pure ruthless comedy. They all go "oh, okay" and leave the hospital which is just hilarious

Julia Louis Dreyfus was never apart of the Seinfeld curse. She had 2 shows that went the distance and I think another show before that that lasted atleast 2 seasons. Also she grew up rich and really didn't have to act at all.

And, did you see the opening speech that he gave when he gave honor to Julia Louis-Dreyfus when she won the Mark Twain Prize? THAT SPEECH WAS PERFECT because it was GENUINE. Insightful as always. For me, it was a breathe of fresh air. Some entertainers are egotistical and I suppose that's just fine. The work themselves almost stupid. But, the great entertainers are grateful, insightful and they give credit to a collaboration of efforts and results to many people who deserve that PRAISE. Humbly speaking, we should be praising people who advise us and help us keep going in the right direction.

No, it wasn’t a big deal at all. However, it was a factual error that was unintentionally not funny. It certainly wasn’t a scandal but it was a pretty lame joke that was lost on most Americans who don’t know the difference between the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution anyway. The satire was lost on most people and any joke that needs to be explained isn’t that funny in the first place. Rolling Stone covers are generally meant to be thoughtfully or emotionally provocative or as a pop culture moment - that cover missed all marks.

Seinfeld was a rare combination of great writing, luck and an ensemble cast that just jived together perfectly. Every character on the show was unique and hilarious in their own right. All the elements came together to make the show a success. Seinfeld was lucky, because his stand-up comedy stinks.

If anyone looks seriously at the reasons for the shows success, it's due to many factors. That doesn't sound very dramatic. As always, Jerry Seinfeld put the success of the show into analysis and perspective. It seems to me that the main component was perseverence. Ratings were terrible at the start but George Shapiro believed in Seinfeld's work ethic and writing ability and the potential because of his dedication. It seems that happenstance played a role. Seinfeld found 2 guys that had comedic talent and after adding himself into the mix, he realized that they needed a dedication woman with comedy experience. Seinfeld just thought that Julia Louis-Dreyfus was intelligent, charming, beautiful and the 4 nucleus of characters developed chemistry. It seems the chemistry that they had allowed them to just be SO DEDICATED TOGETHER AND HAVE FUN. HOWEVER. Without the creativity of Larry David and for crying out loud THE TEAM OF WRITERS, the show would have continued to struggle. And, the show had director Andy Ackerman. Huge plus there. Then, they started to get an AWESOME supporting characters. Some of those for several episodes and some for only one. "Newman" (Wayne Knight) was important to have. Characters like "Putty". Obviously, when a character like "Putty" appears not only with that name, but with his mannerisms, it's gonna' get a few more folks to tune in. And characters like Mr. Pitt, Kramers attorney "Jackie" Childs (Phil Morris), "The Soup Nazi" (Paul Thomas), and a bevy of others. Yes. When Seinfeld and Larry David created the show it's because they started to notice so many things like something odd at the grocery store. So, they would write about it. TIRELESSLY I understand. They actually "hatched" the show at a comedy improv called TO CATCH A RISING STAR. They thought they had funny ideas but Seinfeld really didn't think it would work. He knew what the odds were. Everything just slowly happened. Finally, they were able to get NBC to put them on THURSDAY NIGHT. Which, at that time, was the night for the biggest potential audience. And they were able to get the time slot just after the hit sitcom "Cheers". Just before the local news. That is what put the show "Seinfeld" on the map. Seinfeld seemed to be even more dedicated. Both helping to direct and all of the writing. Writing with brilliant minds like Larry Charles. To create shows. For example, Jean-Paul the marathon runner who overslept and missed his his chance to compete in the Olympics. Then, the whole quagmire about a missed wake-up call and the alarm clock. Other episodes that the writers like Andy Robin and Gregg Kavett came up with. The security guard who "should have a chair to sit in". Seinfeld temporarily taking over Newmans mail route. ("Everyone got their mail".) The J. Peterman catalogue. ("Shooting a rhino with a hollowed out bamboo stick armed with chick peas".) Elaine needing "sponges". Kramer having a "pipe night" and smoking cigarettes by engaging in a "pow wow" with other smokers. Then looking at his face the next day by looking at his reflection in Jerrys toaster. Then, the following statements in a comraderie banter with Jerry. Eventually, the show was given "carte blanche" and allegedly their was an unlimited budget. Season 7 if I remember correctly. So, it really was just a combination of factors. It was PERSEVERENCE. AND, OF COURSE IT WAS THE WRITERS. ANDY ACKERMAN DIRECTING. Others too I'm sure. Suzie Mamann Greenberg just as one example. None of that would have come together AND STAYED TOGETHER IF IT WASN'T FOR JERRY SEINFELDS DEDICATION. Just my humble perception. Wow though. At it's height, what a show. For about three or four years, it was "water cooler" talk for many people. (I used to get off work and dash home to watch it with Jana. Just to get the newest episode. We laughed hysterically.)

Who liked the scene at the dealership where "Putty" is racking up all of those "after market" charges on the calculator while selling Jerry a car that he has already agreed to buy? "Finders fee. (Jerry says, "finders fee? It was already on the lot".) Rust proofing. Extra wheel alignment. Vacuum charge. Valve stem replacement fee. Dual exhaust modification charge. Stereo system check fee. Undercoating charge. "We don't even know what that is". Emergency GPS check. Tire depth regulation fee. All specifications check charge. Lot space fee. To me, that stuff is hilarious. Just because of the reputation that dealerships have. Then, you have a guy like "Putty" who has à sixth grade education with no integrity making a commission on frivolous charges and fees. Those writers on Seinfeld. How many of those episodes on Seinfeld are truly very funny. Some were hilarious. Seinfeld deserves a ton of credit. The luck factor was very fortunate. Sometimes in life I think you have to make your own luck. Once the show was approved to go to Thursday night just after the sitcom "Cheers" they were golden. Especially because they had developed the show with a cast of supporting characters and new characters like Baboo Batt. Who couldn't identify with poor Baboo from Pakistan trying to prosper after opening up his own business? And, Kramers zany reactions. For example, the high powered shower. The Commando 5000 it might have been. And the time that they took that little "yapper" dog and dropped it off in the middle of nowhere and it scattled all the way back with a piece of Kramers shirt hanging out of it's mouth. That TEAM OF WRITERS. And, the editing that took place during the readings before rehearsals. A ton of work I would certainly think. But, it all paid off. For everyone. And for the audience to enjoy was what Seinfeld wanted. NBC won big. Castlerock won big. Eventually, everyone reaped the benefits. Dedication & Perseverence I believe.

It's definitely a bad image problem for Michael Richards as a result of his racist and unhinged rant. Richards was fantastic on the Seinfeld sitcom, so it's a shame that's been somewhat tainted by his later misconduct. But Jason Alexander's mini-scandal is kind of weak, and his strong apology takes the sting out of it. No scandal at all for Julia Louis-Dreyfus--that's a real nothing burger. But maybe most offensive to me is the way Jerry Seinfeld himself is so dismissive of any criticism that he's insensitive about social movements targeting sexism, racism and other genuinely noxious attitudes. He's so full of himself, so entitled and sure of his righteousness, and so oblivious or indifferent to what others find insulting. I have great affection for the sitcom he starred in, but the more I see of him outside that show the more obnoxious I find him as a person. And the concept of interviewing comedians while driving around is so lame that it could only come from the mind of Jerry Seinfeld the stand-up comedy dud. Some thing that has come out lately about the Michael Richards incident is important to note, although it doesn't excuse Richards racist rant. The hecklers had been at the comedy club the night before, and many nights before, and had made it a regular thing to harass the comedians and heckle them. Plus, they were taunting these people who put themselves out there on the stage as entertainers. It's not like they were completely innocent. Why Richards went after their racial characteristics can only be explained by some Sort of desire he had to hurt them by calling attention to their race, which is racist by definition.

Richard Pryor built a career on “that” word. Richards says it 5 times and gets cancelled. Ridiculous. Not to mention he was baited for most of what happened. At the end of the day these people are human, they will slip up and say wrong things. Just because Richards said racist stuff it does not mean it reflects his believes or character, and he apologized for it meaning he clearly doesn't believe in what he said. At the end of the day, how can we judge a person be it a comedian, celebrity or a complete stranger off of one thing they said once? If they show remorse, thats enough, why drag their name through the dirt after the fact. If the person really meant it and actually has racist views, they are a garbage human and should be treated with disgust

Seinfeld was criticized by many for ending the series too soon. To me, it ran a year too long. By the last season the main characters turned into unlikeable characters. The final episode was terrible, and this was my all time favorite tv show....

Elaine and George were the 2 people were hard to work with..it wasn't susan.....remember whenever Kramer walk in the first scene through the door and the audience would clap..it turned out that George and Elaine where fuming in real life..so they had to stop it.......smh...and remember when Jerry was on stage at the Kennedy Centre for Julia...what are the Odds that Kramer and George didn't show up??? something to think about..even the cast members on the show Christine with Julia,, couldn't stand her so....susan in my Opinion wasn't the problem
