Actually yes, when I was little my parents (here in Finland) used to tell me not to go near water alone or Näkki (Finnish version of Näcken) will take you (at least prevents children from being drowned, yes). Or if you wonder too far in to the forest you might get lost in the Metsänpeitto (blanket of the forest?) which is the world of the forest folk and evil beings. I love all the scandinavian folklore in this amazing game. Thank you for playing it!

I played this because it looked like Little Nightmares. A vast majority of the mechanics/gameplay scenarios were pulled straight from those games, but the story/folklore totally made up for it.

1:01:56 this is a swedish hymn called "den blomstertid nu kommer" and it is about the joy you feel when summer arrives and when everything that was dead is alive again. This arrangement was so pretty I had to leave for a second to collect myself. I was not prepared for the emotions to hit 🤣
@brynjulfharfager6671

Pretty sure the song "Den blomstertid nu kommer" is in the public domain, at least it is here in Sweden, considering it was written in the late 17th century and is part of our collection of most famous traditional folk songs. Most if not all children for a very long time, sang this song at the last day of school before the summer break, all over Sweden. It is probably the oldest song we still sing regularly. Either way, not sure you can copyright claim a traditional folk song that is in the public domain, that would be weird, especially one where the composer of the melody is anonymous, and the guy that wrote the text has been dead since 1709.

I LOVE seeing games based off of the folklore of my country. Also, the houses and nature of the game is SUPER accurate, the red villas and all. And the little nightgowns are so cute. I haven't seen enough of this video, but I do know the beginning of the demo had "Den Blomstertid Nu Kommer" aka a Swedish summer pslam from 1694 :D!! It's still taught in schools and the like. Just some random thoughts I had, this game looks promising (and scary.) Can't wait to watch this video (and hear you pronounce Swedish really badly, my favorite part of any streamer playing a Swedish game😂) Oh edit!! The beginning where Olle is seeing his height, it also says their ages and how tall they were at the time. He seems to be 8 currently (8 år) and Lillemor (his sister, the name also means little mother) is 11 years old (11 år.) This might have been obvious, though. edit: NÄCKEN!!! Sort of like a Swedish siren, typically a man in the lake, luring people with his beautiful violin playing, into the water. But there's a few different versions of it outside of Scandinavia as well, such as the Nixie. I'm having too much fun with this currently, folklore is one of my favorite things, horrifying and amazing game so far. ((oh nvm, they describe Näcken later my bad BUT STILL!!!!)) I'll refrain from writing too much, but Tuva seems to be the girl from The Princess and the Trolls? I remember seeing artwork of her all the time as a kid. Some where she's sitting alone by a lake, and some where she is surrounded by trolls, or walking with them. You also see her at the beginning of the game, I think. I don't know anything about her though, surprisingly. I have more to learn! Now I will stop writing (probably)😭❤ ok I can't help myself but those are def babies crying. Myling, Swedish ghost, a baby that was not given a name, and left or killed by it's parents somehow. usually by the mother, and hidden, typically floorboards or attic/ceiling (that's what I always heard anyway,) or other places outside, where you will hear a baby crying. A brutal classic, have fun playing Phasmophobia learning this knowledge. good job ghost hunter😌I have no idea about everything else in that section though. gotta learn more EDIT: just finished watching!! amazing game, seriously awesome. Was this seriously this studio's second game?? hope we see more from these guys!!!!

The horned lady with the tail and hole in her back is a Hulder: the moral of her story is to treat other how you wish to be treated. She is often treated horribly because of her appearance (horns, tail, hollowed back like a tree) but it's aid you treat them with kindness and they'll reward you. I'm wondering if you hadn't hit the prompt to kill her if she would've shown kindness..

Well people can care about someone and help them, and cause they're still a good person, but still criticize their flaws. Cause everyone has flaws. I didn't like that the game was putting down self defense against a murderous monster. Seems like a bad message. Maybe Tuva was criticizing Olle going overboard, but then they should've made that clear.
@screaper2717
@screaper2717 Жыл бұрын
@@user-gu9yq5sj7c that's what i mean in a sense. it comes across as kind of like it was a multi path story but they decided to cut it and stitched parts together to make it linear. What's portrayed in the killing of the shapeshifter is it offends/disappoints her and olle loses her power in the stone for it, but he recharges it from the giant crystal and she somehow knows its time to revive him at the end, its very disjointed but followable. Its also confusing because we also never see her again in the story even though she's shown in the big picture at end which means she's more meaningful to the story but never told. It's a bit picky but its always the small things that annoy us huh? lol.

All of the Celtic Mythical Creatures: - Fae/Fey which are like Fairies - Gnomes - Shrooms (I believe that’s what the plant people are called.) - Troll (The thing that captured your sister. Also the butcher.) Fun fact: Trolls are bloodthirsty creatures, but they only come out at night. Since sunlight turns them to stone. - Selkie (Creature in the pond/pool of water. They also don’t have legs. Just a fish tail. That’s why it couldn’t walk after you and had to crawl at one point.) - Giant Also, don’t worry about not knowing much on Hedgehogs. The creator of Sonic didn’t know Hedgehogs can swim. That’s why he would die in the water. They can swim though, and he has recently discovered that.

The being that played the fiddle and was in the pond is actually a Näcken (Goes by different names depending on the region such a Nøkken or Nek) not a Selkie. They also changed the story of the creature from a water spirit to a mortal man gone insane, with the same name of the mythical being.

There's different degrees of scary and mature content. For example, the Disney versions are made wholesome and suitable for kids. There isn't gruesomeness in the Disney ones. It's twisted if people think gruesomeness or horror like games Insym plays is ok for kids. It's not. Look at examples of story books for kids and see how they are. Insym was talking about ones not suitable for kids. Which there are some people who think that it is.

@@user-gu9yq5sj7c sure. A lot of things for kids are different from what they were. Original story books with fairy tales were read to kids in those days or oral stories were shared that were just gruesome. I understand his thoughts on it, but historically that just was normal and would be normal per the projected time period this game seems to be based from. Obviously, this game has mature content based on the themes and visual gore alone.

the song den blomstertid nu kommer shuld not be copyrighted cuz its a summertime hymn and children song sung both at the end of the school year and in church. It is also referred to as "Psalm nr. 474" as it is first known to have been included in the Swedish Protestant Church'es hymnal in 1695. The lyrics are sometimes credited to Israel Kolmodin, a pastor at the time.

Interesting bit of history for anyone interested: Christmas is NOT actually on jesuses birthday. We celebrate it on the wrong day because in order for Christian’s to make it easier to convert pagans they moved Christ’s birthday celebration to line up with the pagans largest celebration (solstice) in an attempt to make any changes less jarring and more easily accepted by the pagans. Important to keep in mind this was not an act of kindness though, instead it was more manipulative. Christian missionary’s we’re and are to this day extremely brutal. Convo around 2:41:00 is why I bring this up.

Yeah, I played with Playmobil as a child. It wasn't super popular at that time here in the US, but nor was it unknown. I have the impression it was more popular in Europe.

I like the irony in that the son "In the Hall of the Mountain King" played as you fought a literal King inside a mountain. Kinds makes me wonder if the developer made the entire game around a song he liked and wanted to use in a game lol Also, that kid had one of the weirdest walk/run animations I've ever seen 🤪

I commented this to Insym: 2:00:28 It's not just violence or the hanging body, but about suicide. I think some people just don't want to avoid it being promoted. Cause it was online sometimes. I kind of appreciate some people trying to care about it. People should just be glad gore is allowed even thought some of it is excessive too. People can watch the uncensored parts elsewhere. It's just hung women. Also, maybe people just haven't reported things like dead babies. Doesn't mean it's allowed. But what difference does it make to people like you who like gore? It's all the same to you guys, and you guys want dead babies shown too. You guys wouldn't think one was more offensive or inappropriate than the other. Also, it's easier for people to know killing is wrong than to convince suicidal people to not do it.

@@user-gu9yq5sj7c So I meant that BOTH things are bad, I didn't really want to see a dead baby 😭😭 And I agree, that stuff shouldn't be promoted. Wild to think you thought I LIKED that stuff
